East Lincoln High School Chorus & Theatre Newsletter

June 2021

The Stage Notes Newsletter is published the first of every month and contains lots of information about both the Theatre Arts and Choral Music programs at East Lincoln High School. We want to try not only to get the word out about upcoming performances but also to keep our community up-to-date on what our students are doing and how they can partner with us to produce the highest quality programs.

If you have friends, family, or neighbors who would enjoy this monthly look into theatre and chorus, share with them our website, www.EastLincolnOnStage.org, and they can sign up to receive the newsletter at the bottom of any page.

Thanks for being a part of our performing arts community!

The Blumey Awards Update

We Are So Proud!

We are so proud of how well Rachel and Arturo represented East Lincoln in this year's Blumey Awards!

If you were not able to watch the live program on PBS, you can still check it out HERE!

While we hope that next year's event will be back to normal, we couldn't be happier with the experience that was provided by Blumenthal Performing Arts and Wells Fargo!

WITH YOUR HELP, WE DID IT!

Big picture
With your AMAZING support, WE DID IT! We ended our Sponsor-A-Seat campaign on June 1 and are excited to have new seats ordered and scheduled to arrive at the end of June. We will work through July to get all of the wonderful commemorative plaques installed, and by the first of the school year, our space will be ready for a SUPER EXCITING year of performances ahead!

For each and every donation, we are extremely grateful!

Who Will You Be This Summer?

ONLY A FEW SPOTS REMAIN!

We are ecstatic to be bringing back our summer theatre camp in 2021! Two years ago, we had an amazing experience with awesome campers staging Seussical Kids. This summer Olaf will finally get to find out what it is like in summer as we stage Frozen Kids. This camp will be a blizzard of fun for boys and girls alike. We welcome campers who are going into Kindergarten through Eighth Grade.

For more information and to register your camper, visit EastLincolnOnStage.org/camp.

We can't wait to see you!

SINGING TOGETHER AGAIN!

Big picture
On May 24, the East Lincoln Chorus gathered for the first time in 16 months to sing together for an audience. Some students rehearsed in person. Some students rehearsed at home hearing the rehearsals virtually. All the students, regardless of how they rehearsed, came together to perform a concert of Broadway favorites to a large and excited audience.

In short, it was a good night. Smiling eyes, sweet songs, and the joy of being together again,

We are looking forward to 2021-2022 and being able to share more music with our community!

**Director's Note: I was so frazzled doing some quick rehearsals before the concert that I did not set up the camera, and have no pictures or video to prove this happened. But, take my word for it, a good time was had by all!

Select East Lincoln StageHANDS As Your Amazon Smile Chairty!

We are always looking for ways that our community can support our programs at no cost to them. Amazon Smile is one of those programs. The amount Amazon donates is small, but every dollar can make a difference.

What do you need to know?

  • If you select East Lincoln StageHANDS as your charity, 0.5% of your purchases will be donated to our not-for-profit booster organization.
  • If you order online, you MUST make sure that you start at SMILE.AMAZON.COM rather than the regular amazon.com. There is no difference in the sites other than one donates to our program and the other does not.
  • If you use the AMAZON APP on your phone, you must ENABLE AMAZON SMILE in the app. Just go to SETTINGS, select AMAZON SMILE, and turn it on for your phone.

That is all there is to it. We would love for you to help us spread the word to friends and family who may not already be supporting a charity through their Amazon purchases.

"I WISH THERE WERE EAST LINCOLN LANYARDS!"

Big picture

We Heard You, And They Are Here!

Have you wished someone was selling East Lincoln lanyards so you could show your MUSTANG PRIDE while hanging on to your keys and nametag? Well, we heard that several times and decided to make it happen. The East Lincoln StageHANDS are selling ELHS lanyards, for $5. With a detachable "J' hook, these lanyards are versatile enough for just about anyone.

You can pick yours up by visiting the school between 8 AM and 3 PM, or at any of our concerts or productions.

Big picture

We are so grateful to the local businesses and organizations who have already joined us as sponsors and advertisers for 2021. It is not too late to become a sponsor or add your business to our current list of advertisers. Check out the forms below for more information on becoming a supporter in 2021.

Did you know that one piece of music for a choir of 20 costs $55 making the total cost for a concert around $500?

Did you know that it costs around $2,000 for rights, royalties, and materials for a musical production? Those costs do not include costumes, sets, make-up, special effects, or musicians. Straight plays are a bit cheaper, but still, have some of the same monetary needs.

While expensive, these productions are amazing and wonderful laboratory settings for students to act, create, and collaborate all while learning a plethora of skills that will serve them both in the arts and in their future academic and professional endeavors.

That's where YOU come in! Sponsors and advertisers FOUR CHORAL CONCERTS, FOUR MAINSTAGE PRODUCTIONS, TWO CLASS PRODUCTIONS, and a partridge in a pear tree (well, not really!)

If you have any questions about our programs, the levels of partnership, or how the funds are used, please contact Mr. Franklin.

We look forward to seeing your businesses and organizations in our 2021 playbills!
