Teacher Feature - Mrs. Weagant

Why I Teach

Ever since I was a child, school has always been one of my favorite places. I looked up to, loved and admired many of my teachers. Now I get to be that teacher that instills that love of school and learning in children. I get to encourage and help kids gain confidence and courage to try new things. I get to make school the happy, safe place for them and that makes me happy.

I love adventures and the great outdoors! Family adventures are the best. We like to travel anywhere where there’s lakes or ocean. We like bike rides, hiking, fishing, kayaking and hanging out at the beach. At home I like to read, do puzzles and play sports with my kids. My husband, Garrett is a teacher. The twins, Austin and Avery, are Sophomores at Gridley High. Austin is into ag and Avery plays sports. Nolan is in eighth grade at Sycamore and lives to play soccer.

Character Trait of the Month

Courage: to choose what is good, right, and kind even when it is hard or scary.

This month we’re talking about the virtue of Courage – to help our children be courageous and learn to conquer things that frighten or scare them. Children need reassurance that fear is one of our feelings and to help them understand that it’s okay to feel afraid. Courage isn’t fearlessness, but instead our ability to choose the right thing even when we are scared!
