Principal's Update

Happy Mother's Day to all of Oster's Moms. As a parent myself, I know you're doing the toughest work on the planet. (If you're a Dad reading this, your day is coming soon, but everything I'm saying applies to you, too.)

So today I send my deepest appreciation. You are changing the world, one child at a time.

Big picture
Thank you to Oster's HSC board, parents, and students for making the staff feel appreciated this past week. The staff and I felt the love from the yummy treats to the catered lunch, the beautiful flowers, special gifts, and cards of appreciation. Our hearts and tummies were overflowing with gratitude...thank you!

On Wednesday our staff recognized the parent volunteers who have helped in some capacity during our annual volunteer tea. While not all volunteers could attend, we wanted to take this opportunity to say thank you to all our volunteers for making a difference for our students. Being a volunteer can be a demanding task, so thank you for contributing your time, energy, and efforts to making Oster the fantastic school that it is.

Lastly, I would like to give a special thank you to this year's HSC Board: Monica Durham, Samantha Roche, Marsh Portmann, Milissa Lim, Christina Herrera, and Sandhya Moro for their tireless work and the hundreds of hours they have dedicated to the Oster staff and community these past few years. Even though you’re not always in the spotlight, please know you are the backbone of every event and know that we could not do our job without your hard work and continued support.

To our Oster Volunteers

You've been so very good to us.

You've been kind in every way.

You've made us treats and helped

On all our special days.

Today we'd like to thank you

For all you've done this year,

And to tell you that you're special

And so very, very, dear.

Today we'd like to tell you

In our own special way:

We appreciate the things

you've done

More than words can say.

With much appreciation....Thank you Parent Volunteers!

Go Cougars!

Enrollment for the 22-23 School Year

There was a questionnaire sent out about enrollment for the 22-23 school year. Thank you to those families that have responded. If you know that you will not be returning to Oster in the fall and haven't notified the office, please email Ellen Mace at macee@unionsd.org.

Open House: May 18th

This year's Open House will be held in person on May 18th at 6:00 PM. We are excited to welcome all of our families back to campus and into our classrooms as we celebrate a year of student learning and growth. To help mitigate the spread of Covid, masks are highly recommended for this event. Also, to reduce the risk of exposure, we respectfully ask parents only visit their child’s classroom. We appreciate your cooperation in advance.

Incoming 6th Grade Parent Information

Parents of 6th graders, mark your calendars. Dartmouth's Incoming 6th Grade Parent Orientation will be held @ 6:00 pm on Tuesday, May 10th. Please join the team of 6th Grade teachers, therapists, and administrators for a review of their programs, activities, and offerings for the upcoming school year. More information is to come from Dartmouth as the date gets closer.

Parent Volunteers Needed

We are still in need of parent volunteers for next year's Oster's HSC Board. The Oster HSC is an all-volunteer organization that desperately needs NEW volunteers to continue the vital work that the HSC does to support our students and staff. We have several executive board members leaving Oster at the end of this year, and we need new leadership. The HSC supports staff and students by funding field trips, providing classroom funds, paying for educational programs and subscriptions, and much more that is not funded by the state or the district. Please consider becoming a part of the next HSC board to help continue to make Oster an excellent place for your students. Please email osterhsc@gmail.com if interested.
