Summer Oil Favorites!

Cook with Oils- Cucumber Greek Summer Salad!

I made this super easy cucumber salad the other day and it was sooo delicious! It's also healthy and perfect to take to summer cookouts! Here's what you need:

2 Cucumbers sliced or diced

1/2 cup of Feta cheese

1/2 Red Onion sliced in small pieces

Black Olives (if you like) pitted and sliced

4 Roma tomatoes diced

Salt and Pepper to taste (I like it with a lot of pepper!)

1/4 cup of Olive oil

THEN add:

1 drop of Young Living Oregano Vitality essential oil & 2 drops of Young Living Lemon Vitality essential oil.

Mix together and Enjoy!

Roller bottles ~

Roller bottles. These gems are an amazing way to make precious drops of EO's stretch! You can find them on Amazon, Abundant Health for You OR you can purchase the amazing roller filaments (like the one you got in your starter kit) from Young Living and pop it on top of one of your empty oil bottles! Simply boil the bottle (but use it to the last drop!) and take one drop of lemon essential oil to get the label off (if needed). I love doing this because I'm recycling the bottles I've already purchased! So keep those empty bottles and put them to work! A general rule of thumb is to put 15-20 drops of essential oil into your roller bottles. If you are making any for kids this ratio will change and depend on the age of your child, but 1-2 drops per roller bottle is good for young children.

Here's a good "Ouch Blend" for a 10ml roller bottle that you can use for your older kiddos or yourself if there's a mishap while you're outside this summer because life happens :)

10 drops Tea tree

10 drops Lavender

10 drops Frankincense

Fill to the top with the carrier oil of your choice!

Carrier Oils *

Carrier Oils were a whole new concept to me when I first learned about essential oils. I had a ton of questions (and still sometimes do!) about what they are good for, why we use them, and what kinds to use. In a nut shell- carrier oils help your essential oil to spread across your skin and soak in more effectively. This is because essential oils alone are volatile and can evaporate quickly! So although carrier oils are used to dilute they do NOT take away or lessen the efficiency or efficacy of your EO's. When it comes to what kinds to use, I tend to be boring and stick with the tried and true fractionated coconut oil (FCO). But there are some really fun carrier oils like rose hip, jojoba and more that can be helpful to use for specific purposes! For more in depth information on different carrier oils take a look at this helpful Young Living blog post:
