Hello Future Tapp Students and Families,
Welcome to Week 4 of 5 of the newsletter series. This week you will meet some of our connections teachers apart from Band, Chorus and Orchestra. The classes are:

In this newsletter, you will also receive information about clubs that your students can join at Tapp Middle School. You will also find resources to help your students with their summer reading.

Clubs at Tapp Middle School

Beta Club
Sponsor: Elizabeth Frost and Corryn Chamberlain
Tapp Beta Club is a service organization, which means that we organize, host, or participate in events that help our school or community. Students must meet academic and behavioral criteria to be invited to join Beta Club.

Fellowship of Christian Athletes
Sponsor: Donna Green
FCA stands for Fellowship of Christian Athletes, but you do not have to be one to participate. The club meets on Friday mornings from 8:15 - 8:50am, usually in the theater ( subject to change based on other events). Speakers range from local youth ministers to God's Warriors. All are welcome to join.
Men of Tapp
Sponsor: Alexander Shannon
The Men of Tapp Leadership Organization was formed 12 years ago with the well-being of male students in mind. We seek out young men in grades 6-8 who want to develop their leadership skills/talents and who have a passion to serve their school and community. The goal of the organization is to develop young men with integrity and empower them with the skills and knowledge to be leaders in their school and community and eventually on a global level. The Organization is designed to facilitate and foster academic achievement through: Community Engagement and Leadership Development.
News Team

News Team is a group of students who help with the school's morning announcements. These students are engaged and come to school early to make sure announcements are correctly completed.
Student Ambassadors
Sponsors: Shena Manning and Taiwo Faro
Student Ambassadors show leadership, good judgment, maturity, honesty, and integrity. They assist at events, such as, new student orientation, open house, curriculum day, PBIS, and counseling -SEL school-wide events. They also conduct tours of Tapp MS and serve as "Tiger Buddies" for new students.
Jr. Tome Society Book Club

Tome Society provides student competitions; an annual It List of clean, entertaining, and encouraging children's and young adult literature; book club activities; and an annual conference for both students and educators.

Women of Tomorrow
Sponsors: Joacey Bautista-Fraser and Devonna Hill
Women of Tomorrow is a leadership and women empowerment program for all young ladies here at Tapp. We are recruiting young ladies who'd like to give back to their community, improve on skills and lifelong guidelines, and be a role model for others.
Art Club

The Art Club is a group of creative students who use their talents for positive change in our school through creativity.
STEM Club

Tapp Middle School’s STEM Club is dedicated to empowering students to be independent problem-solvers. Providing opportunity for meaningful STEM learning and for students to engage in science, technology, engineering and math in multiple ways and in a supportive fun environment.
Girls Who Code
Sponsor: TBA
GWC girls learn the essential concepts for all programming languages. Through fun and interactive curricula, GWC girls not only learn about how to positively impact their community through code, but they also are taught to be brave and resilient to help them persist in the Computer Science field.
Reminders
2020 Summer Reading Adventure
Your 6th grade teachers and our Media Specialist, Mrs. Kristy Ward want to remind you about summer reading.
The 2020 Summer Reading Adventure began on June 1st. We will use a new platform called Beanstalk! We encourage all students and families to read 20 minutes each day for a total of 20 hours this summer. This year students and families will sign up for the Summer Reading Adventure through the Cobb County Public Library.
You also may log minutes and complete activities on the Summer Reading Adventure form.
