Welcome Back!

It was absolutely incredible to welcome our school community back into Nixon School this week! Here's to a year filled with much health, well being, learning, and fun!

Student Chromebooks

Grades K & 1 - Kindergarten and First Grade Students will keep their Chromebooks in school. As a result, Chromebook insurance does not need to be considered.

Grades 2-4 - Students in grades 2-4 will be brining their CHROMEBOOK and CHARGER back and forth to school each and every school day! If your child forgets the Chromebook at home, they will not have access to a building based one as a loaner for that day. As a result, for your child to be prepared every day for class, please be sure that your child has the Chromebook & charger packed in their back pack every day before heading to school.

Car Riders

For all families that are bringing their child to and from school, please be sure to park in the lower parking lot and walk up to the side of the building. Staff are waiting there to welcome your children. For everyone's safety, please do NOT pull into the driveway of the building for car drop off. We have many buses and vans and the driveway becomes very narrow when cars are attempting to pass the buses and vans. Thank you for your help in keeping our community safe!

Dimissal - Improving Everyday!

Thank you to everyone for their patience as we have worked through dismissal this week. Each day has been better! We are going to take attendance one more time for every bus on Wednesday just to make sure that everyone remembers where they need to go after the long weekend.

Staff Breakfast

Thank you to the Nixon School PTA for providing staff with a wonderful breakfast on August 31st. It was very kind of the PTA to proivde such a special welcome back!

Nurse's Notes

We are asking everyone to do their part in helping to keep our school community healthy. As a result, if your child has a fever, (productive) cough, or runny nose, please keep them home until they feel better. Please do not provide your child with fever reducing medication in hopes that they can make it through the day.

Also, pllease remember to have ....

  1. Clean, extra masks in your child's backpack.
  2. A Water bottle and snack.
  3. Your child wear appropriate (closed back and rubber soled) shoes so that they can safely enjoy Physical Education class and recess.

Now Introducing - Ms. Suwan, School Counseling Intern

Next week we will welcome Ms. Suwan as a school counselor in training that will be working alongside our own certified school counselor Mr. Swanson a few days a week. She is a Walden University student working to become a certified school counselor. She has already completed most of the required coursework for her degree program and is now meeting the requirements for Field Experience. Walden University’s Counseling programs are accredited by the Council for Accreditation for Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP), and its faculty and students adhere to the American Counseling Association’s (ACA) Code of Ethics. We are looking forward to having Ms. Suwan working with Mr. Swanson, our staff, and students!
