Library Updates
Grade Levels Checking out Next week:
Kindergarten
First Grade
Third Grade
Fifth Grade
Library Happenings: What a whirlwind these last few week have been. I had the opportunity to attend a Library Leadership conference in New Orleans and I met librarians from around the country: school librarians, public librarians, archivists and even a librarian who works for the Major League Baseball Hall of Fame! I learned so much and am excited to bring these new ideas and tools to Long Elementary.
We have had several classes come in to explore our library makerspace. Kindergarten came in and we used the book If You Give a Mouse a Cookie to talk about putting events in order. They did a great job! Several classes have read the latest Show Me Book, Share Some Kindness, Bring Some Light and we discussed how the bear in the story showed kindness without expecting anything in return.
Follow the library on Facebook to see more of what we are doing!
Looking forward: Next week, fourth graders will be learning about history and evaluation regulations for books to be considered and honored with the Coretta Scott King Award. They will read a variety of books and begin thinking about the books they want to share with their first grade buddies.
Second Grade Families: Our Make and Take Bags have been out for circulation to our second graders! If you would like to learn more about these Make and Take bags, click HERE. If you have not signed up for them yet, you can do so HERE!

Sora Reading App Gives Students Access to Library Content Online
Our district is committed to bringing unique learning opportunities to our students, and we are pleased to introduce a new student reading app called Sora that provides students with access to read digital books. The collection of titles in Sora is an extension of Lindbergh’s physical libraries, in an app format that provides 24/7 access to ebooks and audiobooks. In addition, our partnership includes access to the St. Louis County Library’s Juvenile collection as well. Sora can help students of all ages read more and improve comprehension. Students of all abilities and interest levels can benefit from this service.
Learn more about SORA by reading the attached PDF.
