The Rocks became established after the colony's formation in 1788. The original buildings were made mostly of local sandstone, from which the area derives it's name. The Rocks were once an open-air jail.

The Rocks is an urban locality, tourist precinct and historic area of Sydney's city center, in the state of New South Wales. The Rocks area borders on Bradfield Highway, leading to the Harbor Bridge, with the localities of Dawes and Miller's Point.
Culture of The Rocks
The close proximity to Circular Quay and the views of the iconic Harbor Bridge, as well as the historic nature of many of the buildings, makes The Rocks very popular with tourists. It features a variety of souvenir and craft shops, as well as many themed historic bars and pubs. The Rocks market operates each weekend, with around 100 stalls!!!

Hi, my name is Estella & l am turning 10 this year on December. My favorite color is aqua, turquoise & white. I have 7 people in my family. I have 3 sisters, 1 brother & my parents. I have about 5-6 pet fish & 1 just passed away a few months ago. My dad works in the kitchen while my mum is always at home looking after the house. To start with, I'm SIlviana and I'm 9yrs old. My favorite color is lime green, red and black. There are 4 people in my family, my dad, mum and my eldest brother. I have 8 fish now, 2 black ones and 6 gold ones. 3 gold ones passed away a few months ago. My dad works, but my mum doesn't. My brother is 14yrs old and is in Year 9.
