RTCC Students Shine at DECA...Again!

RTCC students continue to shine at the annual Vermont State Distributive Education Clubs of America (DECA) conference at the University of Vermont. In prior years, RTCC students finished first in Vermont in the Principles of Business Management/Administration and Personal Financial Literacy categories. This year, RTCC students finished in first and second place in the Accounting Applications competition. Additionally, they took third place in the Principles of Business Management/Administration category and in a role-play scenario.

DECA is an international organization devoted to preparing high school students for marketing, finance, hospitality and management careers. As a result of their outstanding achievements during this year's competition, RTCC earned the privilege to represent Vermont during the upcoming DECA International Career Development Conference (ICDC) in Orlando, Florida.

Here are the winners from this year’s competition:

Treasury Cup Challenge

Students from both RTCC and RUHS competed against Vermont high school teams during the Treasury Cup challenge at the state house in Montpelier. The competition was extremely tough and the combined RTCC/RUHS was eliminated after putting up a valiant fight in two hotly contested matches. Sponsored by the State Treasurer’s Office, the objective of the challenge is to promote student interest and knowledge of personal finance, economics, and consumer affairs.
