Next Week Topics:
Word Work: We are continuing to learn about vowels and the sounds they make. We have learned all of the short vowels and that they can live in the middle of words or start words. This week we will focus on the long vowel sounds and the rules that tell those vowels to say their names:
-"sneaky e" (cane)
-Two vowels go walking, the first one does the talking (ai, ae, oa, ee)
Writing: We will continue to work on our "How To" writing where the students pick topics that they are the expert on. They are learning to use transition words to organize their thoughts and pictures (First, Next, Then, Last). Have your child do with with you at home with the dishes, laundry, or cooking dinner! Have them retell the steps, draw pictures, and write sentences to match.
Math: We will continue to focus on 2-D shapes but incorporate positional words to describe placement of objects and shapes in pictures (below, above, in between, etc.) We are also introducing 3-D shapes (cone, cylinder, sphere, cone) and should be able to distinguish the difference between 2D and 3D shapes. Watch this video.
Social Studies/Science: We will continue to learn about Martin Luther King, Jr. and why we celebrate him.
***KEEP PRACTICING YOUR SIGHT WORDS!!
