Homework Help Tutor.com
Did you know that WVS provides a service for YOU to get homework help on demand?
As a student enrolled in an online course with Wisconsin Virtual School, you have access to a service called Tutor.com. In core subject courses such as Math, Science, Social Studies, English, and some Business, AP, and World Language (Spanish, French, German) courses there is a Folder called "Homework Help Tutor.com."
By clicking on the Homework Help Tutor.com link you will be connected to support and can ask specific question(s). This service is available anytime 24/7 except major holidays.
What can you expect?
- On-demand, one-to-one tutor for help with specific questions.
- The tutor will not have access to your course, give you answers, or help you with tests or quizzes.
- The tutor will ask you questions in order to assist you in discovering the answers to your questions to help you build your skills.
- When you cannot get a hold of your online teacher, you can use Tutor.com to get some homework help.
- 95% of students who use Tutor.com reported it helped them improve their grade.
- Click here for a Tutor.com Guide on how it works.
If you're unsure about using Tutor.com, click here to experience a Tutor.com Practice Classroom without a Tutor present. You will get a feel for the technology before connecting with a live Tutor.
Please reach out to your online teacher or WVS Help Desk with any questions.
Connect Time with your Teacher
Did you know that each week your online teacher holds a “Connect Time hour”? This is when you can connect in real-time via Collaborate Ultra conferencing to them and other students enrolled in your online course. It is a great opportunity to connect for support and questions, but also to get to know your online peers and your teacher.
Connect Time offers the opportunity for you to:
- meet your online classmates and teacher in real-time,
- connect with a classmate on a collaborative project,
- complete a discussion-based assessment,
- view a guest speaker and other examples that show different use cases,
- practice and build skills (Example: speaking a world language, writing in any language-even programming language, etc.),
- get one on one support from your online teacher and lots more.
Your teacher will have instructions/information (often in the Welcome Folder) on how to join this space each week. If you do not see this information in your online course ask your online teacher where to find it.
Peer Help in BUZZ
Peer Help is a new feature in BUZZ that is meant to help students learn from each other. It will allow you to see the names of your classmates who have completed an assignment. If your teacher has provided a format for you to share emails (usually in the first course discussion) you can collaborate with other students in your course.
What does this look like from the student view? A symbol of a cutout person's head and a number appears along the top toolbar; clicking on that symbol will show the names of the students who have completed that activity. See the picture below.
Communication and Feedback in Online Courses
Email will continue to be the main means of communication with your online teacher. If you have a question about an item in your course, providing your teacher with detailed information will help to get to a resolution and response sooner. Things to include:
- Module Name or number where you are working
- Assignment name and page number
- Your question or what you are experiencing
- Screenshot or video, if applicable
Your success and growth in your online courses also depends on you reviewing feedback from your teacher on items you submitted. This is extremely important if an item has been set for a retry so you understand what is missing and what needs to be done before submitting again for review and further feedback. You might also want to review auto feedback on quizzes prior to taking a final exam. Where do you see feedback? You can see feedback by clicking on your score on your grade page or from your activity stream. You may also want to set up your Buzz notifications to alert you to grading and feedback. (See Notification in BUZZ information below)

- You receive a score or feedback

Please keep in mind that once you set Notifications, they are set for ALL of your courses.
