The Hemisphere of Imagination
Exploring The Right Side of the Brain
The right hemisphere and left hemisphere of the brain differ in many ways. They differ dramatically through the ways they deal with emotion, expression, creativity, details and problems. However, one side would certainly be useless without the other. These are just three common strengths of the right-brain and what makes it so important.
Creativity
The predominant trait of the right hemisphere of the brain is creativity and artistic/musical potential. Without right brain people, art, design, music, film, and more would likely not exist. People with a prevalent right brain will likely feel a leaning towards creative endeavors like cooking, painting or making music.
Intuition
People with dominantly right hemispheres may find that they value intuition over logic and routine. These primal "gut-feelings" can be extremely important in getting ourselves out of dangerous situations and direct us towards the correct path. This isn't to say that left-brained people don't experience these feelings, they just usually value the logical, objective options to handling situations rather than the emotional, subjective options.
Expression
Right-brained people typically have the advantage of easier emotional expression in comparison to left-brained people. This ties together with creativity, which is commonly how emotions are expressed in a productive way. The ability to express emotion is very important in maintaining a healthy psyche and attitude, making it quite a positive trait of the right hemisphere.
