RHTA STEM School Grades 2-8

School and Enrollment Information

Before Applying

Thank you for your interest in the Ranger High-Tech Academy STEM School. It is important that you understand the education that is offered at a STEM School and the educational needs of your child as you make a decision on what learning environment is best for your child. Children of all ability levels are welcome at RHTA. We currently have learners at each grade level who are identified as gifted, learners on 504s, and learners who are identified as needing special education services. We do not have an Emotional Support Room (ESR) at this time. Please keep in mind that STEM schools are for all children, but may not be the best setting for every child. We do not guarantee that siblings will be accepted. Below are the characteristics of a STEM school that you will want to think about when you are considering applying for enrollment.

Application Process

There are 4 parts to this application process for students going into grades 2-8.

  • Online Application (including parent assessment) due March 11th.
  • Teacher Assessment (sent to current teacher)
  • Design Challenge for applicants to complete on March 24th. (Sessions available from 4-7 pm.)
  • Parent attendance at informational meeting on March 24th during student design challenges. The video below is a recording from the parent information night last year but it will give you a lot of valuable information.

In addition to this, we highly encourage you to view our Twitter account @NRCSStem.

We currently do not allow potential students to shadow at RHTA.

Upon completion of this application, an assessment will be sent to your child's current teacher and an email will be sent to you with the next step of the process. The application will be routed to STEM coordinator and principal, Melissa Durkin.

Selection Process

All applications received will be rated based on the essential characteristics of STEM schools and not on academic ability.

Due to the increased enrollment in the North Ridgeville City Schools and building capacity throughout the district, open enrollment for students who do not live in North Ridgeville is extremely limited. Open enrollment (students residing outside of the city of North Ridgeville) will only be considered if there are spots available after residents are accepted. There are additional steps that open enrollment applicants will have to complete for district enrollment if they are accepted to attend RHTA.

Notification letters will be emailed no later than April 29th. When students accept enrollment at Ranger High-Tech Academy they must attend for the entire 22-23 school year.

Return Applications

Each year the students will complete a short reapplication in order to retain enrollment at RHTA. Along with the reapplication form, each student will receive a recommendation from their current teacher based on two attributes.

  • Academic Progress of individual learners within the PBL structure
  • Ability to work collaboratively as a group member

If a child is accepted as a resident and the family moves out of North Ridgeville after the start of the school year that child may apply for district open enrollment and remain at RHTA for the 2022-2023 school year. If the child would like to return the following school year they must complete the full application process as an open enrollment applicant.
