Peabody Elementary Weekly Informer

Greetings Peabody Parents:
I just wanted to share our Q/A from our Virtual Common Core/Social Emotional/Re-entry Plan for January meeting again. As always, thank you for your continued support.
Q: How do I change my "Learning Option to Return in January Choice" if I have already made my selection this week but want to change it?
A: If you do not want to change your selection from this summer and you want it to remain the same, you do not have to complete the survey. If you have changed your selection for the new survey and would like to change it again, go back into PowerSchool to make the change. You must use a computer. You will not be able to make the change on a cell phone.
Q: Do Pre-K parents have access to PowerSchool?
A: Yes, Pre-K parents can gain access to powerschool. Please call the school @ 461-4606 for the secretary (Ms. Felder/Mr. McCaster) to assist you with creating your account.
Q: Will teachers return back in January to teach?
A: Teachers have the same option as students to choose to teach In-person or Virtually. So far, Fifty-two (52%) of Peabody classroom teachers have chosen to teach Remotely and 48% have chosen to Teach In-person. However, some teachers are still in the process of selecting their choice.
Q: If my child comes In-person and their teacher is teaching remotely, who will teach my child?
A: Your child will still have the same teacher. Your child will receive instruction virtually from their teacher teaching from home. Students will continue to use the Microsoft Teams Platform and use headphone sets. A school staff member will monitor the students who are In-person if your child's teacher is teaching from home. (Please see the powerpoint attachment for more details.)
Q: Will the school follow social distancing guidelines?
A: Yes, according to the CDC Covid-19 safety guidelines. (Please see the powerpoint attachment for more details and the CDC website: https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/community/schools-childcare/schools.html
Q: When is the deadline to complete the District's Learning Option to Return in January Survey?
A: The deadline has been extended until Friday, November 6th.
Q: Do Pre-K parents receive a Pandemic EBT cards?
A: Only Pre-K parents from last school year (Spring 2020) will receive a Pandemic EBT. However, Pre-K parents must pick up their cards from the Pre-K office. Please contact the Pre-K office @ 416-3450 to check if your name is on the list.
Q: Who qualifies for the Pandemic EBT cards?
A: Students who attended SCS last Spring and received free or reduced lunch form the National School Lunch Program.
Q: How do I know if I have a Pandemic EBT card at the school?
A: Someone from Peabody will call you if your name was on the State of TN list that was provided. When parents are called, we will give you a day/time to come to the school to pick up your card. The custodial parent must sign and present a driver's license to receive the card.
Q: My name was not on the list provided by the State of TN, how do I apply?
A: Call the State of TN Department of TDHS Family Assistance @ 1-866-311-4287. Parents cannot apply at the school and the school does not have a link to apply.
Thank you parents for making sure your children are coming to school each day and on time, and thank you for partnering with Peabody to make sure our children are successful!

Hello Peabody Eagles!
Greetings Peabody Eagles! We wrapped up our bullying prevention lessons on last week with KK-2nd graders. With the help of books like Bully Beans and Llama Llama and the Bully Goat, students have a really good idea of what bullying means, what it looks like, and what they can do to help stop it from happening. Check out the books below!
Thank you again parents for joining us for our Fall parent meeting and Common Core Night. As promised, I am listing the virtual supports available below as well as the link to a short presentation created by SCS school social workers, including our very own, Mrs. Donna Goings, on Time Management in the Midst of COVID-19.
Please do not hesitate to reach out to me for questions and/or concerns.
With Lots of Love,
Mrs. Turner
