2018 Readers' Cup
Open to Year 9 students only
MEETING IN THE LIBRARY ON WEDNESDAY 21st MARCH @ INTERVAL
The Readers' Cup started on the North Shore two years ago with 6 schools competing. This competition continues to grow and now has teams from across New Zealand. We will be competing in the Auckland - North competition initially with the possibility to go on to inter-provincial competition.
This term we need to select our team for this year.
ARE YOU INTERESTED IN TRYING OUT FOR THE TEAM? IF SO.....
Come to the meeting in the library @ interval on Wednesday 21st March.
You will then be invited to sign up to the Readers' Cup Classroom. Your readings will be posted there.
Following this, selection meetings (3) will be individual quizzes online. Please bring a device that can sign in to Google Classroom. There may be some available from the library if needed. These will be held in Mrs Sahinkaya's room at lunchtimes, date to be announced.
Our team needs to be chosen by the end of this term.
Sadly we can only have five students per team, with four answering questions at any one time, with one subbing in. Once we have selected our team, you'll have to read six books over the holidays & next term with the competition being at the end of Term 2.
WHAT IS MY COMMITMENT?
After the team is announced, we will meet about once a fortnight to swap books and see how everyone is going. We are lucky to have the experience of previous teams to help us out.
The competition is held in the evening - parents, family and friends are welcome to come along in support.
Past teams have enjoyed the competition, both representing Carmel very well. Many go on to be Junior Librarians.
