Shrek the Musical, Jr.

Do you love to sing and act? Are you interested in costume design, or are you an aspiring make-up artist? How about building theatrical sets? If any of this interests you, plan on coming out to our informational meeting on Tuesday, February 7th after school in D104 to learn more about the upcoming Shrek the Musical, Jr.... See Mx. Menich, Ms. Jordan, Ms. Early or Ms. Falk if you have questions!

Friday Theme Day

This Friday's Theme Day will be ADAM SANDLER DAY! Check out the hallway slides to see how he dresses -- think baggy clothes!

Extra-Curricular Activities Updates


  • Buddies Club will meet Wednesday after school in G102. Join us for an afternoon of minute to win it games and friendly competition... who knows what you might win?? Sign up outside Ms. Weinman's room, G102.
  • Attention Fitness Warriors, this Wednesday there is no fitness club after school. We will resume next Wednesday as usual. Thank you for your continued interest in this amazing activity! See you next week!

Boys & Girls Club

Winston Campus Jr. High School won a quarter of a million dollar grant to bring the Boys and Girls Club program to add more after school offerings. Open to all students, it is a great opportunity to be social, have a safe place to be after school, and even better: there is daily homework support!

Metra Contest– “Stay Safe and Stay Off Train Tracks!”

Metra has launched its 16th Annual Safety Poster and Essay Contest, asking students across Metra's service area to illustrate through posters and essays the importance of safe behaviors near the railroad. This year's theme is "Stay Safe, Stay Off Train Tracks." Deadline for entries is Friday, Jan. 20, 2023.


The Safety Poster and Essay Contest asks students to take on an advocacy role and communicate the importance of safety near the tracks. This year's theme: "Stay Safe, Stay Off Train Tracks"emphasizes the importance of being aware of your surroundings and personal safety when near railroad tracks, platforms, and crossings, which can be extremely dangerous.

Palatine Library Winter Reading Challenge Read for the Stars

Begins Monday, December 12 – Tuesday, January 31

We have another great way to keep students reading and engaged through winter break! Encourage your students to participate and help us reach our goal. When we all read 8,000 books, the Northwest Special Recreation Association gets a grand donation of $1,500 from our sponsors.

Kids that finish get a star shaped stress ball for completing the program! While supplies last. Prizes funded by the Friends of Palatine Library.


Finishers are entered in a drawing for a chance to win an amazing prize basket filled with gift cards generously donated by participating businesses.

Reading Requirement

Birth - Grade 2 : 15 Books

Grades 3 - 6: 5 Books

Grades 7 - 12: 2 Books

Adults: 2 Books

Summer Job Opportunity with the Palatine Park District

Attention 8th graders, are you looking for a summer job? Want to still be outside and get a free membership to the Palatine Park district pools? Then consider applying to be a pool attendant! It's a great first job. Please email Ms. Silva if you have serious questions.
