LOOOONNNNGGGG YEAR!

Although it has been a challenging year for us all, I hope that your kiddo still came home inspired from school each day. We hope that you all have a fantastic summer and look forward to our K-4 students returning next year. We will miss our fifth grade families and wish you all the best in the coming years!! (In order to opt out of my text messages so you don't keep getting them, when you get the next one, just respond with @LEAVE.)

2022-2023 SUPPLY LISTS

Since I've had a few parents ask already, we will be finalizing the suggested supply list for each grade in June and I'll put out the list in a special summer edition of Wilbur Words. We will also add it to our website for easy reference!

FIELD DAYS

  • Due to the tragedy that occurred last week in Texas, out of an abundance of caution, I am not opening up the building for visitors for KN to Grade 4 field days. I apologize in advance that this will be disappointing for many of you, but, as the person who is responsible for almost 1200 students' and 125 staff members' safety, I am going to err on the side of caution.
  • We will make sure that we do some livestreaming during the field days and I am asking teachers to take lots of photos so that you can still be a part of the fun.
  • FIFTH GRADE PARENTS: Because this is your child's 'last hoorah' at Wilbur, I didn't think it would be fair to not make it possible for you to attend field day. Having said this, there will be very specific guidelines that will need to be followed. Please read everything below carefully and fill out the form above if you plan to attend on June 8! IF YOU SHOW UP AND HAVE NOT RSVPed, YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO ATTEND FIELD DAY. ALL RSVPs MUST BE IN BY 4:00 PM ON JUNE 7 AS LISTS WILL BE PRINTED AT THAT TIME.

END OF YEAR ACTIVITIES FOR STUDENTS ARE HERE!

THERE ARE NO RAIN DATES FOR THESE EVENTS. WE WILL SWITCH TO AN INSIDE ACTIVITY IF WEATHER PREVENTS US FROM BEING OUTSIDE!

June 7: Field Day activities for Grades 1 - 4

Students should wear sneakers, sunscreen, and bring a towel to sit on!

June 8: Kindergarten field day activities

Students should wear sneakers, sunscreen, and bring a towel to sit on!

June 8: Fifth Grade FUN Day!

Fifth graders will have a day of fun with carnival-type rotations in the morning, an outside lunch, and field day activities in the afternoon!

June 9: Last student day! Spirit Day: Beach Party day!

All students have an early dismissal at 12:55.

TIME HAS CHANGED DUE TO LAST WEEK'S VOTE!

June 9: 12:55 FIFTH GRADE CLAP OUT EVENT!

So that every single fifth grader can be a part of the Clap Out, the time has been moved so that it happens at dismissal time. Instead of staff lining the driveway with their cars, they will have line the area along the driveway out from the bus court. We will start the Clap Out with all K-4 students lining the hallways cheering as our fifth graders are dismissed first. Buses will pull out slowly, so that all our fifth grade bus riders can experience the Clap Out.

The car line will run like normal, but parents with fifth graders should pick up their child and then park in the lot. Once all buses have cleared, a staff member will signal for parents of car riders to drive them through the bus court area. We hope that this will allow every fifth grader to experience this final event at Wilbur!

During the 2020-21 school year, our Curriculum and Instruction staff created Parent University. These live online hour-long instructional sessions provided some technical support and training for parents during the remote learning period.

WE are looking to once again host these hour long sessions in the 2022-23 school year and expand the meeting topics to a broader selection of topics. That being said, we need to know what parents may need guidance in.

Please fill out the questionnaire at https://form.jotform.com/221145169275052 to give us guidance on what you would like to learn more about in the next school year.

If you have questions, please email info@colonial.k12.de.us
