CLASSROOM FAMILY ENGAGEMENT PARTNERSHIPS
As you may know, the SC School Improvement Council is a lead partner on a recently awarded grant from the U.S. Department of Education to host the Carolina Family Engagement Center (CFEC).
CFEC is currently seeking up to 10 Preschool - Grade 12 teachers serving in schools with a poverty index of at least 60% to develop, implement, and evaluate evidence-based family engagement plans for their classrooms beginning in the 2019-20 school year and continuing through the 2020-21 school year. Participating teachers will receive ongoing, individualized assistance from a CFEC Regional Liaison in all aspects of this family engagement work. CFEC Liaisons will also coordinate with schools’ parent liaisons or coordinators (in schools that have an assigned liaison) to make sure that the teachers’ plans are consistent with and support the work that parent liaisons are already doing in their schools. Teachers who successfully implement their plans and submit their evaluation results to CFEC at the end of two years will receive a $1,000 stipend.
Electronic copies of a flyer, an FAQ information sheet, and an application form is available on the SC-SIC website at sic.sc.gov. Application must be received by CFEC no later than Friday, May 31, 2019. We would greatly appreciate your help in forwarding this information to teachers in your district as well as their administrators and district-level family engagement professionals. Questions and requests for additional information can be directed to CFEC Project Director Karen Utter at utter@email.sc.edu or 803-777-7658.
Thank you for your help in reaching out to our teachers with this new family engagement opportunity through the Carolina Family Engagement Center
