Park Terrace Elementary
September 8, 2021 Newsletter
Greetings Park Terrace Families!
We are officially underway! I am so happy to see our students back in school, meeting new teachers, making new friends, enjoying a beautiful day together once again at school. Personally, it is so nice to see all the planning and preparation come to fruition as we begin a new year! I hope your student had a wonderful first day and made a new memory to last a lifetime!
I truly appreciate everyone’s patience and help as we navigated dismissal at the end of the first day of school. Here are a few reminders:
- If you are picking up your student, please be sure to stay in your vehicle. This helps us to manage the traffic flow, reduces the number of people crossing the road, and helps us to safely get students to their vehicles.
- If your student walks home, you are welcome to walk up to the school entrance.
- If your student rides the bus, it sounds like everything went really well with bussing! While there are sure to be some delays, I want to give a shout out to our awesome bus drivers who help get students home safely each evening!
Thank you to all of our families and students, as well, for wearing face masks to school. As of right now our Anoka County COVID-19 transmission rate remains high and masks will continue to be required for the time being. Please remember to send your student with a mask each day.
As we move from the first week into the second, please know that we will do everything we can to help make this a great school year for our students, staff and community. I hope everyone has a great rest of the week!
Sincerely,
Mona Perkins
Principal
Voluntary, free COVID-19 testing
Voluntary COVID-19 testing will be offered every other week at Spring Lake Park Schools. Students whose families wish them to complete a test may stop by the health office in their school building on scheduled test days to pick up a test kit. Saliva tests will be taken home and completed online via Zoom with a Vault supervisor. Test kits will then be returned to the health office the next day for shipment to the lab. Late test kits cannot be accepted. Instructions on how to login to Zoom are included with each test kit. The first test day is Monday, September 13.
Please contact the Lead Nurse, Becca Williams, with any questions.
