EXPLORATION WEDNESDAY
Exploration Wednesday will take place on October 12th this year. Seniors will be given the opportunity to career shadow, visit colleges or participate in community service off site. Juniors and sophomores will be taking the career or college assessment that they signed up for last spring. These include the PSAT, Practice ACT, ASVAB or WorkKeys. The freshmen will be participating in community building activities. Please note that we will operate on an early release schedule that day. Students will be dismissed at approximately noon. Lunch will still be available, though. Specific details for the day will be shared as we get closer to the date.
COLLEGE VISITS
Many college representatives visit LHS each school year. The purpose of these meetings is to give you insights into the processes associated with admissions, scholarships and more. Taking part in these events can be very helpful when making plans for your future.
Here are the steps to take to sign up:
1. log into Naviance via Clever (in the "waffle")
2. click on Colleges, then College Visits
3. scroll through the options; don't ignore options that you've never heard of; use SuperMatch College Search (also under the Colleges tab in Naviance) to see what schools may be a good fit for you
4. click on Register Now for any visit that you would like to attend; registration must be completed 24 hours in advance of the event; a pass will be generated for you to come to the school counseling office for the meeting; students are responsible for any school work missed when meeting with a college representative
5. some college representatives may also elect to have a virtual visit at 3:00pm; specific information about this is provided from the admissions counselor at that school
Please reach out to your high school counselor with any questions. We are happy to help!
