Tv5 Monde – French class- Mrs. Ayten
Effective language learning depends on the teachers' expertise, students’ interest, and, to a large extent, the types of resources applied. Real-world materials are not originally designed for teaching or learning, but they are an amazing support in learning foreign languages.
In French class, we often use real-world materials. Tv5 Monde supports learning French with entertaining interactive exercises at different levels.
11 YOC students are working on various topics at their own level with Tv5 Monde. This resource enriches students’ writing, listening and reading skills. The videos show conversations between native speakers and include three to four exercises per topic. Students listen to a conversation one or two times and then complete the suggested exercises.
Students improve their French by using Tv5 Monde; they learn to communicate like native speakers. This resource enhances future language experiences beyond the classroom.
COVID-Quarantine Policy Updates
The BIS Advisory Board met this week and discussed some additional updates to the COVID quarantine policy.
A household member of a student or staff member tests positive for COVID-19
· Individuals, regardless of vaccination status, may return to campus after 7 days from the time of the household member’s diagnosis.
· Individuals who have recovered from COVID-19 in the last 90 days, do not need to quarantine if a household member has tested positive.
Quarantine Policy for first-level contacts who have recovered from COVID
· Students or staff members who had COVID within the past 90 days of a new exposure do not need to quarantine for 7 days after exposure.
Quarantine Policy for first-level contacts who are fully vaccinated:
· Students or staff members who are fully vaccinated, do not need to quarantine for 7 days after exposure.
· Vaccinated first-level contacts need to take a COVID test 5 days after the exposure and submit the test results to Sevda.

- The kitchen will add more drinks options such as water with lemon and other flavors, compote, and box juices.
- New dishes will be added: Tacos, fish meals, sushi, sandwiches, wraps, and other new dishes.
- Favorite dishes will be served more frequently and least favorable ones will be excluded from the menu.
- Considering the recent increase of food prices in the markets, the kitchen could not decrease the daily meal price though we have made discounts for monthly and termly orders.

Pink Shirt Day
Pink Shirt Day began in Canada in 2007 when two students took a stand against bullying after a new student was harassed and threatened for wearing pink. These students bought dozens of pink shirts and distributed them to their classmates to wear the next day. The word got out online and hundreds of students showed up in pink, some from head-to-toe, to stand together against bullying. This week students have been working on anti-bullying posters to put up around the school to highlight or commitment to a bully free campus. Then on February 24th we will commemorate Pink Shirt Day by encouraging staff and students to wear pink, reading anti-bullying stories, and having classroom discussions.
What is Bullying?
Unfortunately, it is not uncommon to hear students saying something insensitive or mean to someone else but bullying has some specific characteristics that make it so hurtful.
• Bullying is deliberate – harming another person intentionally. This does not include accidents or angry outbursts.
• Bullying involves a misuse of power in a relationship
• Bullying is usually not a one-off – it is repeated, or has the potential to be repeated over time
