Five Forks Fathers News!
You are invited to bring your middle school student for a free Chick-fil-A breakfast as we celebrate the kick-off of our brand new All Pro Dad chapter! It will be held on Tuesday, September 18th from 7:30 - 8:00 am in the FFMS Cafeteria and is sponsored by the Five Forks Fathers. Please RSVP for the breakfast at this link. It'll be a fun opportunity to spend quality time with our kids in their context and on their turf. There will even be a prize raffle!
All Pro Dad was started in 1997 in Tampa, Florida by Tony Dungy, former head coach of the 2006 Super Bowl Champion Indianapolis Colts, for the simple purpose of encouraging men in their roles as fathers and husbands. It is endorsed by the National PTA with 1,200 school chapters in 42 states, with 119 in the State of Georgia and 20 chapters in Gwinnett County. Click here for further information on All Pro Dad and click here to subscribe to their newsletter.

Student Advisory Council!
State School Superintendent Richard Woods is seeking middle and high school students to serve on his 2018-2019 Student Advisory Council. These students will meet with Superintendent Woods to discuss the impact of state policies in the classroom, along with other issues related to education, and will serve as the Superintendent’s ambassadors to their respective schools. Members will also engage in community service projects to benefit Georgia students and schools.
Applicants must be enrolled in a Georgia public middle for the 2018-19 school year:
▪ Click here to download the application.
▪ Send applications by September 1, 2018 at 5 p.m. to students@doe.k12.ga.us. Late applications will not be accepted.
▪ Selected students will be contacted via email. All students can visit gadoe.org/studentadvisory on September 10 at 10 a.m. to see whether they have been selected.
Middle school students will meet October 10, November 28, February 5, and May 13 in Atlanta.
“Every day, I’m faced with choices that will directly affect Georgia’s kids,” State School Superintendent Woods said. “Because of the students who serve on this council, I’m better able to make sound, informed decisions. I deeply value their input and involvement.”
