St. Viator Parish School
Viator Voice: February 3, 2020
Thank you to our parents, students, and faculty for a wonderful celebration for Catholic Schools Week!
JOIN US FOR AN EVENING OUT
Like the foundation of a building, our annual dinner and auction supports our school in tremendous ways.
Most of the Foundation revenue is generated from the silent and live auction items at the annual gala event. This revenue is further enhanced by program ads, sponsorships, table sales, raffle ticket sales, and interest earnings. This year, a portion of the proceeds will be used to advance our strategic improvement plan, including further technology initiatives.
We are truly looking forward to seeing you at this year's Foundation dinner!
May God continue to bless you abundantly
for what you do for His children,
Mrs. Tracy Brunelle, Principal

SVS Father Daughter Dance, February 1, 2020
“A father hold his daughter's hand for a short while, but he holds her heart forever.”
Prayers and love are going out to all those who have lost someone they love recently. It is truly heartbreaking. Thankfully, we are very blessed with a very strong, supportive community.
I loved Father's message at Mass last Sunday. Each day, we are given a gift of 86,400 seconds -- imagine what we could do if only we had in $$?! This week and always, let us *spend* our days in kindness, forgiveness, and love. May we all be grateful for what we have and bring hope and healing to those in need. May we go forth in peace as we never know what day may be our last.
Spend those seconds wisely this week!

PreKindergarten and Kindergarten: One Point Perspective
Notice for Parents and Guardians
Please do not medicate your child before school to lower his/her fever and then send him to school.
A fever is the body's response to fighting infection, and your child needs time to rest and recuperate. It is important to keep your child home when sick for 24 hours after they no longer have a fever or signs of a fever (chills, feeling very warm, flushed appearance, or sweating) without the use of fever-reducing medicine.
Flu Season
While the timing of flu season is unpredictable, seasonal flu activity can begin as early as October and last as late as May. In fact, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends that people get vaccinated by the end of October, if possible. As you know, the flu vaccine can reduce flu illnesses, doctor's visits, missed work and school days, and prevent flu-related hospitalizations and deaths in children.
Thank you for leading by example by getting your child and your flu vaccine.

WCEA Accreditation Update
We are anxiously awaiting the WCEA Team return at the end of the month!
A Visiting Committee of six will visit February 24-26, 2020 to validate who we are as a school community. The faculty and staff have spent many hours evaluating our programs
through data collection and analysis. During this process, we have identified our strengths and areas to focus on for professional development and resources over the next few years. During their visit, the committee will see that our students are quickly becoming life-long learners, active Faith-Filled Catholics, responsible citizens, effective communicators, and globally/culturally aware citizens. St. Viator Parish School provides a quality Catholic education where the gospel message of Jesus Christ is lived, learned and shared in a safe learning environment. The administration, faculty, staff, students, parents, clergy, and parish community collaborate to develop the whole person spiritually, morally, academically and physically.
St Viator Parish School is accredited by Western Catholic Educational Association and North Central Association. Not every school or district can or does complete the accreditation process. In addition to assessing the Catholic identity of the school (specific to the WCEA protocol), the process involves looking at multiple measures: test scores, student satisfaction, parent satisfaction, graduation rates, and acceptance rates at Catholic High Schools (or into honor programs in other high schools). Staff education level, experience, willingness to participate in ongoing professional development, assessment of students and the curriculum, teaching methods and resource management are also part of to the evaluation that determines the next steps for the school and leads to a successful accreditation visit. St. Viator Parish School is a fantastic school with great teachers, students, parents, and support, and we will be proud to show it off.
We look forward to sharing with the team all that we do on a daily basis when they return February 24-26th!
