A Message From Our Superintendent
Dear GPISD Parents/Guardians and Families,
Happy New Year!
The new year brings with it a new beginning—a chance for each of us to evaluate what went well last year, and what areas of our lives, including school and work, could use some improvement.
A wise person once said, "A goal without a plan is just a dream."
I encourage you to take some time to reflect, and maybe even write down some goals and action plans to help you become a better parent, spouse, or employee (or whatever area of your life that needs attention) than you were last year. Write down specific steps you will take to make progress toward meeting your goals, and follow your plan with action! YOU are the only person who can turn your dreams into reality.
Life is about continually improving—about being the best person you can be—so start today.
Make 2021 your best year ever!
Be safe,
John C. Moore, Jr., Ed.D.
Superintendent of Schools
Superintendent's Student Advisory Board Podcast
The Superintendent’s Student Advisory Board (SAB) was established to provide an avenue
of dialogue between high school students who are leaders on their campuses
with District leaders.
Every year, Student Advisory Board members participate in a community service project, but due to the pandemic and social distancing guidelines, the students decided to create a podcast to provide important conversations about how to cope during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
For the duration of the 2020-2021 school year, the SAB will be participating in monthly podcasts to discuss mental health and how to cope with the difficulties we have all faced during this pandemic. The second episode will air in February, with a continued conversation about mental health and how to ensure all students have a successful second semester.
Thank you, SAB, for bringing awareness to the importance of mental health.
January Character Education
The Character Education themes for the month of January are perseverance and courage.
Galena Park I.S.D.'s mission is to prepare students to become productive citizens and lifelong learners. One way we contribute to our mission is through our Character Education program.
