How its taken
Morphine is often taken through a iv in your arm. They have to put a needle into your vein, so that way it can get to your bloodstream.
The Effects
Short term effects: Morphine provides 3-4 hour pain relief and the effects of the morphine take place fast. Also after it enters your bloodstream it can make you feel sick for a little bit.
Long term effects: There are no long term effects because the relief/sickness is only temporary.
Signs of abuse
People who have been taking morphine into there body may start to notice the following:
- Depression
- anxiety
- constipation
- trouble sleeping
- memory loss
- vision problems
- high/low blood pressure
Signs of dependence
People who start to depend on morphine show the following:
- Shallow breathing - it may feel like the person's chest is barely moving and there may be few breaths each minute
- Feeling faint or dizzy
- Confusion
- Low blood pressure
- Constricted pupils
- Loss of normal muscle tension
- Cardiac arrest
- Cold and clammy skin
- Circulatory collapse
