FBMS Weekly Leadership Message

VETERANS DAY CELEBRATION
Don't forget that Veterans' Day Weekend is homework-free in Marshfield. You still have time to think about how you can recognize and/or thank a veteran with all of that free time. Veteran's Day Parade & Ceremony will be on Sunday, November 11 beginning at 10:30 AM.
PROJECT 351
Speaking of service….Every year, the grade 8 teachers look for one student who displays a beyond average level of compassion, kindness, humility, and gratitude to be an ambassador representing Marshfield in a statewide organization called Project 351. Former Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick started Project 351---the number 351 representing the 351 towns across our great state---as a way for the most compassionate teens across the state to come together and learn how to focus their compassion, kindness, humility, and gratitude on service to society. Massachusetts' Project 351 selects one student from each district in the state, and working with other chosen 351 students, that chosen "ambassador" develops and implements a service project to assist a specific struggling group in society. The ambassador also meets and works with the other ambassadors across the state, honing his or her leadership skills and learning from other like-minded 8th graders, who have also been nominated by their teachers and Principals to represent their district. Furnace Brook Middle School is proud to announce that Grade 8 Captain's Cluster student Greg was chosen to represent Furnace Brook Middle School. We are proud of Greg and feel fortunate to have someone so kind and caring in our student body. We look forward to learning about his forthcoming service project and celebrate all of the great opportunities coming his way with 8th graders across the state. Congratulations, Greg.
