Super Star Scoop

March 2015

March is National Reading Awareness Month

In honor of National Reading Awareness Month our class will be participating in a read aloud initiative. From March 1st thru April 4th each family will keep track of their reading habits. The goal is to read 15 minutes aloud to your child everyday. Grandparents, siblings and care givers are also welcome to help with this endeavor. A calendar to keep track of your efforts has already been sent home. Please contact me if you have any questions, concerns or need to borrow books. Happy reading to all!

If you happen to have a favorite book, please join the #BookItForward campaign.

Kindergarten Screening

Its hard to believe but our school year is coming to an end and your child will soon move from preschool to kindergarten. Every child needs to be screened before entering kindergarten. All elementary schools are now taking appointments for kindergarten screenings. Please contact the elementary school your child will attend to schedule an appointment. You will need to bring your child's state certified birth certificate at the time of your appointment. If you have questions or concerns regarding the screening process, kindergarten readiness or your child's progress please feel free to contact me.

Preschool Screening and Pre-Enrollment

Grace will be holding preschool screenings on March 25th, 26th, 30th and 31st.

Fun with Friends

In February we celebrated the friendships we have made in preschool this year. Valentine parties were held on February 11th and 12th. The children enjoyed passing out Valentines and eating ice cream sundaes. All classes had the opportunity to make home-made ice cream in an ice cream ball. It doesn't produce very much but it is delicious!

On April 8th, Grace will hold its second annual Bike-a-thon. Although the bike-a-thon will only be held on one day, all children are welcome and encouraged to participate. The bike-a-thon will be preceded by a visit from Officer Strong. He will speak to the children about bike safety. Collection envelopes will be sent home with your child this week. Volunteers are also needed for this fantastic "fun - raising" event. If you are available to help, please contact me. Siblings are welcome.
