January Unique Unit: We Need Change

This month we will explore how conflicts can lead to war, the consequences of war, and how compromises can end a conflict in a positive way. We will learn about the consequences of major wars in U.S. history.

Chapter 1- Conflict and War

Chapter 2- The Revolutionary War

Chapter 3- The Civil War

Chapter 4- World War I

Chapter 5- World War II

Chapter 6- The War on Terror

The life skills lessons in this unit focus on learning how to work together, resolve conflict, solve problems, and get help when needed.

Throughout this unit, students will learn about changes caused by conflicts in U.S. history. Technology has also changed over time. Students will identify the technology and inventions used by people who lived during the times of different wars. Students will analyze how technology and inventions have changed over time.

Unit Resources

Snack Time

Just a reminder we have snack time built into our schedule each day. Students can bring in a daily snack.

PE Uniforms

We are now washing our PE uniforms each week in our life skills period. This is a great way to practice our laundry skills during our weekly jobs.

We have been keeping the change from our community field trips in each student's school wallet. This is a great way for them to be able to practice money during our math classes and when we are working on community prep. Please let us know if you would like the change to be sent home or if you have any questions. Thanks!
