Safety Information from the Office!
Reminders:
- Please have your kids use the crosswalks both to and from school. Running across the street is not an option.
- Please do not drop your kids off along the road (Saltzman). The only place that kids should be dropped off is the lower parking lot - for drop off and pick up!
- If your child needs medication (including things like cough drops), you must come into the school office to fill out paperwork. The medication is to be kept in the office until it is needed. It also should be in its original container.
- Please do not arrange for your child to be picked up "in the neighborhood' at a designated location Yesterday, I received an email from a concerned parent who shared that a child was sitting on the curb in front of her house for over an hour after school had let out waiting for a parent.
- Please make sure your child's teacher knows your child's dismissal plan. If plans change, please send a note to the teacher.
- Dogs should not be on campus at all during the school day - even if they are on a leash!

Cognitive Abilities Test (CogAT)
After careful consideration the Department of Teaching and Learning has determined that a change will be made in how and when the Cognitive Abilities Test (CogAT) Screener will be administered. In the past, the CogAT Screener was administered to all Beaverton School District students in 2nd and 4th grades during the Spring. Instead, the CogAT screener will be administered to all students in the 3rd and 5th grade starting in Fall 2018. If parents have questions, they should go to our website, https://www.beaverton.k12.or.us/schools/findley and look for TAG information under Academics.Middle and High School Activity Buses
Middle and high school after school activities buses will feature “transit style” bus routes for students. Students will be assigned stops within ½ mile of their homes. All stops will allow students to utilize sidewalks and not have to cross busy streets. The majority of stops will be located near major housing areas (apartments, community centers or neighborhood elementary schools).
The advantage to having assigned stops is the ability for parents to access the My Stop App to track their child’s bus.
Routers are beginning to assign students now and will be sending the information to schools soon.
For questions regarding your assigned after school activity bus stop, please contact the school office that the middle and high schooler attends.
Learning Options Information for 2017-18
The Beaverton School District is nationally recognized for high student achievement and innovative programs. Beaverton students in grades 6-12 have the opportunity to investigate learning options that best fit their academic needs. Students can choose their neighborhood school or one of a number of small learning options. Transportation is provided. Applications will be available starting Monday, October 23rd, 2017. All applicants must reside within the Beaverton School District boundaries. Current Beaverton School District students will be able to apply online using their student ID, once the application portal opens.
