Ireland Elementary School
March 13, 2023
SuperHEAR-O Tate!
Students are encouraged to dress up as a superhero that day!
Books will also be for sale for $20.00 at school. Students can bring cash or a check made out to Mark Seibert. We will sell books until they are out, as we only have 200 books in stock. Books can also be purchased on Amazon.
25% of the net proceeds from this book will go towards helping other local children in Southern Indiana with cochlear implant needs. It is very difficult to get insurance coverage. They want to give back and help others with this book! It not only tells the story but is a good book for other kids to understand what a deaf kid has to go through.
The Jasper Public Library will also be hosting a reading of the book on March 25th at 10:00 a.m.

Irish Program Presents...
Our Irish Program will be presented on Thursday, March 16th at 1:30 and 6:30 p.m. by our Kindergarteners, 2nd, and 4th grade students. We are excited to welcome families into our building for this special event. The program should last approximately 30+ minutes. A few logistics are below to help make our program a success.
- Any family members that can attend the 1:30 program are encouraged to do so to prevent overcrowding at the night performance. Guests may enter the building on the west side by the county road starting at 1:00 p.m.
- For the evening program, the front doors and the west gym doors will open at 6:00 p.m. Students will head to their classrooms at 6:00 p.m.
- All students will be performing on the stage or risers the whole program. In order to see your child the best, we have included a seating chart to help you figure out where to sit. Not mandatory, but suggested.
- Kindergarten parents - south bleachers by Ireland Elementary sign
- 2nd grade parents - north bleachers
- 4th grade parents - gym floor
- Parents should stay in the gym until all students are off the risers/stage and have exited the gym at the end of the program.
- After the program, the students will head back to their classrooms and be dismissed to their parents.
- When picking your child up from the classroom at the night performance, please send one parent only to help alleviate congestion in the hallway.
5th Grade Walkers for St. Pat's Parade
Ireland Elementary School is so excited to once again participate in the Ireland St. Patrick's Day parade! All 5th-grade students are invited to participate by walking with our parade entry. Behavior Forms
If your child brings home a behavior form from Mrs. Bauer, they will need to return it the following day, or they will lose all their recesses. The behavior form is two-fold. One side explains the incident along with the consequences given. The other side is a "Think About It" where the student will write what happen and the better choices they can make next time.
Behavior Forms from Mrs. Bauer are given out for the following reasons: defiance, disruptive behavior, physical contact/aggressive, technology violations, inappropriate language, excessive late notes, lying/cheating, theft, harassment/bullying, property damage, and anything else that deems a behavior form at the principal's level.
Number of Behavior Forms per School Year
- 1st Behavior Form = Warning
- 2nd and 3rd Behavior Form = Lunch Detention
- 4th and 5th Behavior Form = After-School Detention
- 6th or more Behavior Forms = After-School Detention along with parent meeting to set future consequences
Behavior forms are not given out for small misbehaviors. If your child is given a behavior form, please note that it is a time for them to own their mistake, make it better, and move on. Those are Mrs. Bauer's three golden steps for any misbehavior.
Children make mistakes, but hopefully, with school and parent coaching, we can shape them into polite, sincere, and well-mannered individuals in society.

Kindness Challenge of the Week

Mindfulness Strategy of the Week
Frog Breath by Gavin Aull
Stand with your heels together and toes pointing out.
As you breathe in, squat down and touch the floor with your fingers.
As you breathe out, Stand all the way up.
Repeat this 10 times.
John Rosemond - Thought of the Week
A child does not learn self-control unless his parents first set and enforce clear boundaries. Likewise, a child learns to make reasonably good decisions by being the beneficiary of parents who model authoritative decision-making.
Cold Weather and Recess Guidelines
- Your child will be going outside for recess as long as the 'feels like' temperature is 20 degrees or above.
- No more shorts until it is announced in the spring.
- Please send a coat, hat, and gloves for recess.
- If your child doesn't bring a coat, we will provide one if they wish to borrow one. If your child was sent to school without a coat and also refuses to borrow one, they will still be sent outside for recess.
- Our lost and found is pretty large in the winter months, so please take inventory of your child's belongings every week to make sure they have their coat, gloves, and hats.

PowerSchool Grades
There have been many parents questioning how to view their student's grades in PowerSchool. I have created a short screencastify of the parent view when looking at grades. If you have any questions, please contaqct Kelly Lehmkuhler at klehmkuhler@gjcs.k12.in.us
Lunch Visitors
Visitors who want to eat lunch with their child must call the school office by 9:00 a.m. if they wish to order an adult tray. Adult lunches cost $4.25 and must be paid by cash or check in the office when you arrive. If you do not wish to order an adult tray, you do not have to call ahead.
Visitors will be required to wait in the office until the students are dismissed to the cafeteria.
We do not allow outside food to be brought into the cafeteria for your child.
Important Reminders and Updates
School hours are 7:50AM -2:50PM. Students can arrive starting at 7:15AM. Students may not be dropped off prior to 7:15 AM. If you bring your child to school after 7:50 AM, you must escort them to the front doors.
We are highly encouraging parents who are bringing their child to school to use the car drop-off drive. If you would like to walk your child in, you will have to say goodbye outside the front doors. Please trust us that we have your child's best well-being in mind at all times.
All school supplies are provided by the PTO. Your child only needs a backpack, headphones, and a water bottle. Please write your child's name on all items.
Please see nurse Brandi Stiles for prescription medicine intake. All medicine must be accompanied by a parent and include a physician’s prescription. Students are not allowed to transport medicine to school.
VERY IMPORTANT- If your child's transportation changes, please notify the office with a note ASAP.
