Principals Corner
It is great to hear spring in the air, feel the warmer weather outside, and now March Madness is just around the corner. I know many households will be glued to the T.V. following the games and action over the course of the tournament. This time can bring such excitement and energy around an event. On Saturday, 3/23 at 6:30 p.m. in Broad Run’s gymnasium we are hoping to bring the same level of joy and excitement to our students during Discovery’s Volleyball game. This year, Mr. Brown and I will be selecting teams that will compete against each other and let me tell you the competitive juices are already flowing with the staff in preparation for the game. As well as students, whom are starting to determine which team they should root for during Saturday’s game! We hope that your family will be able to join us for a fun and exciting evening.
Don’t forget that 3/29 and 4/1 are student holidays and school will be closed those two days so teachers can wrap up 3rd quarter report cards. It is truly hard to believe that we are heading into the 4th quarter! As you know the last quarter is also filled with much excitement with many exciting events, but it also testing season for our students in grades 3-5. Remember it is always important that your children are arriving to school on time. They need to be in their seats and ready to learn, no later than 7:50 in the morning. We ask that you please try to schedule any appointments for after school hours. Finally, a nutritious well rounded dinner and a well-balanced breakfast will help your children be successful each school day. We appreciate your support and providing positive encouragement for your children to be successful each day at school and during the upcoming testing season. Please be on the lookout for additional information coming home regarding how you can support your child and Discovery during this time of the year.
In closing, I wanted to highlight our incredible Art teacher, Heidi Zimmerman, who hosted another great 4th grade Art night on March 7th. This was an incredible event attended by many students and parents. We are so grateful that Ms. Zimmerman is so passionate about creating and celebrating Art in a manner that promotes family fun. Thank you, Ms. Zimmerman!
Your Principal,
Christopher Painter

Volunteers needed in the Music Classroom
Hey parents! Miss Heck and Miss Zumbach are looking for sharp parent volunteers to help around the classroom. Volunteers would be a huge support during our 3rd Grade Musical in March, along with aiding in the finishing touches needed for class manipulatives to make music more engaging for all students. Let your talents sing in the music room, your help would be instrumental to us!
Lost & Found
Has your child lost a lunch box? Their jacket or water bottle? The Lost and Found area is located right outside of the cafeteria. All items will be donated at the end of each month to a local charity.
Please label your child’s belongings; it’s the best way to be sure it gets found or returned quickly.
