Greene County Elementary Mantra

Message from the Principal

Dear Greene County Elementary Students and Families,

It has been an exciting month of September at GCE! We have been hard at work building relationships, making friends, establishing routines, taking assessments, going on field trips, and so much more! We have developed our school mantra this year: Together we grow. I continue to be impressed with the positive school and family relationships at GCE. These relationships have built a solid foundation for our teamwork this year. Thank you for sharing the gift of your children with us every day. Please let us know if there is anything we can do to serve your child or family.

Morning Drop-off Lane Reminders

Our morning drop-up lane has great service at Greene County Elementary! In order for this to continue to run smoothly, we have a few reminders:

  • Supervision begins at 7:50.
  • Drop-off lane is for drop and go students.
  • Park in the spaces north of the drop-off lane if you need to come inside the school.
  • Park in the spaces north of the playground to drop your child off there.
  • If possible, have children ride to school in the back driver side of the vehicle.

We appreciate your help to make our drop-off lane as safe and smooth as possible! Thanks!

Leaving early/Change of plans:

If your child needs to leave early from school, or has a change of after school dismissal plans, please call the office 515.386.3178. Sometimes teachers don't have time to check Remind or email during the school day, so calling the office will ensure your child gets the message and gets home safely.

MAP Growth Assessment

Greene County Elementary has taken our fall assessment called MAP Growth. We have family reports from this assessment that we would like to share with you. Our Elementary office will send these reports home in the mail on Friday, October 7. You can expect them by Monday, October 10. This is a new assessment for our students, so we will only see a score from this assessment. In the winter, we will be able to see how much our students have grown from fall to winter. Let us know if you have any questions.

Student Attendance

Greene County Elementary is committed to student achievement, and attendance is an important factor in student success. We will communicate with parents early and often regarding student attendance. Communication efforts may include, phone calls, Remind messages, emails, in-person meetings, etc. We will strive to remove barriers for students and families in order to encourage regular student attendance.
