Store Manager
HOURS & SALARY
*37-40 hours per week
*£20,000+ per year (can earn up to £70,000 per year as a larger Store Manager)
WHAT DOES THIS ROLE INVOLVE?
*Acting as a positive role model to all your staff.
*Regularly checking up on stock.
*Preparing reports for senior members of the company.
*Encouraging your sales team to reach their targets.
*Showing a real passion for the product.
*Running training, team development and recruitment.
*Arranging events in the store as well as promotions.
*Keeping up to date with the trends and how your competitors are doing.
*Analyzing sales figures and using these to forecast future sales.
*Providing good customer service which will include dealing with complaints or queries.
WHAT QUALITIES/SKILLS DO THEY LOOK FOR?
*As a Store Manager it is essential that you are highly motivated and encouraging to bring a positive energy to the workplace.
*You need to be confident, passionate about the product you are selling and maintain good personal presentation.
*Strong leadership and interpersonal skills are incredibly important to this role.
*You need an ability to drive sales, analyze figures and be knowledgeable on retail laws, health & safety and security.
*You must stay organised and solve problems efficiently whilst remaining calm under pressure.
HOW DO I GET THIS ROLE?
Most people move into this role by working their way up within retail. But another route you could take is to do a degree in Retail Management or go on a Management Apprenticeship Scheme. You can also move from a management job in a different industry to one in fashion.
WHAT OPPORTUNITIES ARE THERE BEYOND THIS ROLE?
After working as a Store Manager you could be promoted to larger stores or become an Area Manager or Regional Manager. Within three to five years you could even go into Senior Retail Management.
