Greetings from FWCD!

I hope your school year is off to a great start! I would like to invite your 8th grade families to our Coffee at Country Day. We will be exploring diversity, inclusivity, service learning and what it means to belong within our close-knit learning community.

I hope to see you there!

Warmly,

Upcoming Lockdown Drill 11/16/22

We will be having our first Lockdown Drill of the school year on November 16, 2022 at 9:00 am. This drill will take approximately 20-30 minutes. All exterior doors will be locked down and no entry will be made from the outside during the drill. Please remember that this is only a drill and that there is no emergency. Local authorities will be on the school campus to participate. You may see some police vehicles in our parking lot. This is a mandatory drill for our school by the Texas School Safety Center.

If students arrive at or after 9:00 am, they will be required to stay with their parents/guardians outside of the school building in the parking lot across the street until the drill is over. You will not be permitted to stay in the immediate parking lot outside the front doors or in the area around the school building.

Please contact Mr. McCracken for any further questions or concerns.

Thanksgiving Break is coming up!

Attendance and Tardies

Absences:

Please be aware absences can significantly impact the learning of your child. Parents will receive phone calls, emails, and/or text messages when absences are observed. Conferences will be set up with parents if significant absences are accumulated.

Tardies:

Excessive tardies are defined by 5 or more tardies within a consecutive 30 school day period. Students are expected to be in their classrooms ready for the instructional day by 8:00 am and remain in school all day. After five tardies a formal letter will be sent home to the parent/ guardian regarding the issue.

In the event your student is tardy, it is required that a parent/guardian accompany him/her into the building to sign the student (s) in at the front lobby, provide a reason for the tardy, and obtain a pass to class for the student (page 40)
