May Health Observances
May is National Arthritis Awareness Month. There are different types of arthritis. Juvenile arthritis is a generic term to describe inflammatory and rheumatic diseases in those 16 and under. In the United States, it will affect over 300,000 people a year. Osteoarthritis is the most common type and what most people mean when they say they have arthritis. It tends to occur in middle age, but injuries and accidents can cause it to appear earlier in life. Chiropractic care, supplements, and nutritional counseling can all help with this condition. Lupus, gout, and psoriatic arthritis are also some types that we might see in the office. Questions about arthritis? Ask us!
May 9-15 is National Women's Health Week. This week serves as a reminder for women and girls, especially during the outbreak of COVID-19, to make their health a priority and take care of themselves. It is extremely important for all women and girls, especially those with underlying health conditions, such as hypertension, diabetes, obesity, cardiovascular and respiratory conditions to take care of your health. Taking care of yourself may mean getting blood work done, start walking ever day, or getting a session of acupuncture to help with stress levels. Women tend to put themselves second, but if you don't take care of yourself, you can't help others.
