The Pizitz Post
for Students, Parents & Families - April 3, 2023
Spring is Here!
We hope you all enjoyed a lovely spring break. As we get back into the routines of school for the spring season, let's remember the habits that help our students thrive. Students are at their best for school when they make time for sleep, regular routines, and screen-free time with family and friends.
Next week, all of our students have the opporutnity to take the Alabama Comprehensive Assessment Program, known as ACAP. Students at Pizitz will take assessments in the areas of math and English-language arts. Students in sixth and eighth grades will also be assessed in science. Please note that we will have an alternate schedule each day next week. If your child arrives late to school, he/she will have to wait until testing is completed to join their classes. All students will be expected to make-up their assessments upon return if they are out for any of the mornings next week. Please avoid morning appointments next week if possible.
To learn more about the ACAP, check out the state department's website here.
Registration for 2023-2024
Registration for the 2023-24 school year will open for all returning students tomorrow and must be completed by Monday, May 15, 2023. We are using the PowerSchool online registration system as we did last year. School fees are not due at this time. You will receive an email tomorrow with your child’s Snapcode and a link to access the registration portal. You will need the Snapcode in order to complete registration. Please monitor your inbox for an email from PowerSchool.
A video tutorial of the registration portal is available on our Registration Overview website at www.vhcs.us/registration.
Author Visit THIS Tuesday
Author and former UAB football player, Timothy Alexander, will speak at Pizitz on Tuesday morning, April 4. To learn more about his story, check out this overview here. He is the author of the book Ever Faithful, Ever True. We look forward to learning more about his story.
Please note: We will have an alternate schedule on Tuesday for our morning assembly.
Athletic Update for Parents
We understand that not everyone was able to attend the in-person meeting for athletics prior to spring break. If you were unable to attend the parent meeting for incoming 7th graders, please check out the information posted in our LiveBinder. Videos have been uploaded with explanations for student-athlete requirements as we head into tryout season. Find the link to the LIveBinder on our website here.
If you have questions, feel free to contact our athletic directors, David McKenzie or Nick Tucker.
Tennis Heads to Metro
Congrats to the Pizitz tennis teams on a fantastic season! The boys and girls both finished the regular season with many shutouts and only one loss. We are so proud of all of our players! Come cheer the teams on as they compete in the Metro tennis tournament at the Hoover Finley Tennis Center on Tuesday and Wednesday this week after school. Let's go, Pirates!
