School Leadership
Leadership Styles and Applicability in Action Research
Leadership is the Foundation of the School
Everyone has a leadership role
- Students, Teachers, Staff, and the Community all participate in the development of the school
- Everyone working together creates a better school
Intrinsic Leader
The leader is behind the group, bringing out the best in everyone. The leader sees the potential in the group and seeks to motivate the intrinsic desire in them.
Democratic Leader
This leader involves others in the decision making process. The final decision is still up to the leader. It is a very group oriented and collaborative process.
Authoritarian Leader
This leader dictates policies and procedures to the group. This leader is strong in their knowledge and position.
My Action Research Study
I find myself having a mixture of these three leadership styles. I let the situation dictate the best type of leadership that would guide what is needed. In my research, I am seeking to motivate my daughter to be more independent in her homework time. I feel that a combination of these three leadership styles will best guide this overall endeavor.
