Fort Sumter

Fort Sumter had a point were there was an "Open Fire" on the Union. General P.G.T Beaurgard. On April 13th at 2:30, Major Robert Anderson surrendered the fort and was evacuated. The Confederates won this battle.

Battle of Antietam

Commander George McClellan was very powerful compared to Robert E Lee forces near Sharpsburg, Maryland on September 17, 1862. This was the bloodiest battle in the American Military. After this battle was finished the Emancipation Proclamation was issued. By the end of this battle there was no side that had won.

Battle of Vicksburg

May and June of 1863 the Battle of Vicksburg was fought. Commander of the Union was Ulysses S. Grant. The Confederate Leader was John C. Pemberton. After a good battle the Union took the victory.

Battle of Gettysburg

In this battle there were 30,000 Confederates and 20,000 Union members. George G. Meade was the Unions leader. Robert E Lee was the Confederates leader. More that 51,000 soldiers from both sides were killed, wounded, captured or missing in a three day battle. Four months after President Lincoln's used the dedication ceremony for Gettysburg Soldiers National Cemetery to honor fallen Union Soliders.

Sherman's March to the Sea

This battle started November 15th and ended December 21, 1864. General William T Sherman was the leader for the Union. This was a 285 mile march from Atlanta to Savannah with 60,000 soldiers.

Fort Fisher

This battle was fought in New Hanover Country, North Carolina. The battle lasted January 13th-15th 1865. The Leader of the Union was Alfred H Terry. The Leader of the Confederates was Braxton Bragg. The Union won this battle.

Appomattox Court House

Unions commander was Ulysses S. Grant. The Confederate Leader Robert E Lee was the leader. The Plan for the Union was to cut off Robert E Lee and his army. Also they wanted to destroy them and they did the Union won.
