Gator Choir has been very busy!
Gator Choir, UC’s 5th grade choir, has been very busy this holiday season spreading holiday cheer. Students sang with the 1,000-voice Park Hill School District Choir in downtown Parkville to kick-off the season with Christmas on the River. This event is a 20+ year tradition in Parkville. Afterwards, there were beautiful fireworks displayed over the river and set to music. It was an unforgettable evening.
Gator Choir also sang at Crown Center with the beautifully-lit tree as the backdrop. It was enjoyable to sing in the three-story shopping area to see all the UC families and others. Singing at Crown Center has become a festive Gator Choir tradition as well.
Students also came to Zona Rosa and supported PTA with the December First Friday FroYo fundraiser event at Yogurtini. It was great to see so many Union Chapel families supporting PTA and the choir.
Students sang a holiday program at Benton House of Tiffany Springs. Gator Choir members made homemade cards and enjoyed visiting with the residents.
Gator Choir also sang for the UC bus drivers to say, “Thank you!” at a breakfast. Students also sang for the student body at our all-school winter assembly.
Thank you to everyone for your support for Gator Choir!

Hour of Code
All students at Union Chapel, kindergarten through fifth grade, had the opportunity in the media center to participate in the Hour of Code, a global movement reaching tens of millions of students in 180+ countries. Chances are high that computer science literacy will be increasingly relevant for jobs of the future. Some theorists even suggest that the ability to read and write code is a fundamental 21st-century competency. Ask your child how she or he wrote video code at school. Or check it out at home at https://hourofcode.com/us.
Media Center received new bleachers!
Hat and glove drive
Student Council is having a winter hat and glove drive January 11-15. This drive will benefit the Park Hill Clothing Center. Students and families can bring donations to UC that week and drop them off at a bin near their classroom. If you're out and about over winter break, pick up a hat or pair of gloves so you're ready for your opportunity to contribute to students in need, right here in our district!
