Connecting Across Our MSIC Schools
The "Connecting In MSIC Cluster A1-ER14" E-Newsletter has been developed by Joseph Romano to share what is happening across our MSIC Cluster A1-ER14 Schools on a monthly basis. During the last week of each month, you can expect to receive this E-Newsletter via email with updates on work being done by Students, Teachers & Staff with text, links, resources, images, videos and more!
If you have something to share across MSIC Cluster A1-ER14, please do not hesitate to email Joseph Romano your content.
Please see the sections below for this month's content!
A. MSIC Early Years iPad Initiative
Building off of the successes of our MSIC Grade 1 Early Years iPad Initiative during the 2014 - 2015 School Year, our Grade 2 Program will be beginning at the onset of this 2015 - 2016 School Year.
Thank You for your time and effort in bringing 21st Century Learning skills and enhancing your Literacy programming with the implementation of the Grade 1 MSIC iPad initiative. We hope the iPads increased Student Engagement in their Learning, as well as enhanced Student Achievement in Literacy and across Curriculum areas.
MSIC Schools with Grade 2 Classes should have received 20 iPad Minis (similar to the Grade 1 Program) so that Student Learning can continue to grow and build with this initiative through the Early Years.
Please visit the iPads & Literacy In The Early Years MSIC Sharepoint page for set-up information and resources. Further, please be sure to visit the following for additional information and resources:
- MSIC iPad App Literacy Tasks
- Face-To-Face & Adobe Connect Professional Learning Series Links
- TDSB iPad Support AW Site
Joseph Romano will share additional information, resources and links while visiting, Co-Planning and Co-Teaching at School sites.
B. MSIC STEM Initiative
As a direct resource and support, MSIC Schools are outfitted with Primary, Junior & Intermediate STEM Kits. These STEM Kits provide Classroom access to both consumable and non-consumable tools and materials to assist in mobilizing STEM Teaching and Learning. In addition, access to our MSIC K - 8 STEM Tasks provide a rich opportunity to begin working with the STEM Approach, guided by our mentor texts, inline with the STEM Kits.
Please visit the STEM MSIC Sharepoint page for specific information and resources related to our implementation of the STEM Approach. Further, please be sure to visit the following for additional information and resources:
- MSIC K - 8 STEM Tasks
- MSIC K - 8 STEM Kit Inventories - Primary, Junior & Intermediate
- TDSB STEM Department AW Site
Joseph Romano will share additional information, resources and links while visiting, Co-Planning and Co-Teaching at School sites.
C. MSIC Transdisciplinary STEM, Literacy & Numeracy TLNs
We will spend our time together exploring the STEM Approach, Literacy and Numeracy, through a Transdisciplinary Practice. Through this, we will take part in discussion and sharing of practical implementations within our Classroom spaces, and analysis of how our work impacts Teaching & Learning.
Through these TLNs, we will be using the “Professional Learning Cycle” which consists of: Plan, Act, Observe & Reflect, as a methodology to engage in Job-Embedded Professional Learning. With this, please reference the “Collaborative Teacher Inquiry" Monograph as it describes the process we will be working through together during each of our sessions.
Joseph Romano will share additional information and dates while visiting School sites.
