In the first two weeks of our shoe drive, the Prudence Crandall community has collected approximately 400 pairs of shoes! This is an amazing start! The fundraiser will continue to run through the first week of March, and the funds will be used to support having another successful Field Day at the end of the school year! I wonder if we can aim to collect another 200 pairs this coming week! Thanks for the support, keep collecting!
We would like to thank our Crandall families for their generosity and support for our 2024 Read-a-thon. You still have two weeks to send in pledges, Friday, 1/26 and our final collection on Wednesday, 1/31. The winning classroom will win an ice cream sundae party! The Read-a-thon will take place in school on Friday, 2/2. All proceeds go towards our One Book, Three Schools reading initiative which will take place in the spring. Here are the top 5 classrooms with their pledge amounts to date:

“Internet Safety Training – On behalf of the US Attorney’s Office, District of Connecticut and the Department of Children and Families
Tweens and Teens spend many hours per day online chatting and interacting with friends and people who they may not know well and who may put them at risk. To educate parents, teachers and others, the US Attorney’s Office, District of Connecticut, in collaboration with the Department of Children and Families, is offering - FREE OF CHARGE - online Internet Safety Training. This training will introduce parents, teachers and others to Internet and cell phone applications and video game systems being used by the tweens/teens that could potentially put them at risk. Training will take place on Thursday, January 25th, from 6 – 7:30 p.m.”
In addition, the Enfield Public Schools will be hosting a Internet safety night for all 5th grade families on Tuesday, February 6th at 6pm in the JFK auditorium. See the flyer below.
The Enfield Public Schools is now offering the ability to block YouTube from the school issued iPad. Please note, if you complete the survey to block YouTube, it will be blocked both at home and in school.
Please find the link below.
Note – it may take up to a week for the settings to go into effect after the survey is completed. This is also communicated to families at the end of the survey when it is completed.
Prudence Crandall Goes Green
Prudence Crandall School is flowing with innovative ways to go green! Our new refillable water bottle station will reduce plastic use and provide our students with filtered drinking water to keep them hydrated as they learn. Thank you to Connecticut Water for the donation to our school. Kudos to our administrative team who were instrumental in their pursuit of getting the water station up and running.
5th Grade Committee
Attention 5th Grade families! We are looking for a few volunteers for our 5th grade committee! Please see the details on the flyer below. If you are interested, please contact Jen Wheeler at firstname.lastname@example.org.
We will hold our first meeting ASAP, virtually.

Additional letters will be sent after every 5th absence. (ex. 15th, 20th, 25th)
