#HopeforHanna
Hanna Martin is a 12-year old who has beaten cancer once (pictured here with her Archery medals almost a year ago). If her name sounds familiar, you may remember her from her original battle with stage 3 Burkitt Lymphoma that started in May, 2018. After a very grueling battle, Hanna came out on top and was done with treatments in November 2018 after declaring 'the cancer is dead' in September 2018.
But, an ultrasound in December of 2019 has shown the tumor has possibly grown in size or changed shape. Now it still could mean absolutely nothing, and could be the difference in the equipment being used. Hanna has been having lots of pain, nausea and illness, so something has changed. The doctors just haven't been able to determine exactly what yet, and are still running tests.
Hanna has been very active since the end of her treatments. At the beginning of the school year, she went to her principal and asked if they could do a fundraiser for Make-a-Wish. Everyone who knows Hanna knows her passion for helping, giving, and spreading the love to others. What some may not know, is this particular fundraiser is so much than that for her. It was a way for Hanna to give back--for another child to be able to have a wish granted whom has either had or is battling cancer (or another life threatening disease) like she did. Her 'jean day' raised $500 and the donation to Make-a-Wish was made in Hanna's name.
She also was chosen for the Junior National Young Leader Conference in Washington, DC this summer for her academic achievement and leadership ability. Hopefully her health will not hold her back from attending this event this summer.
Please keep this warrior in your prayers!
