Parents Corner
December is the best time to be a preschool teacher. We have such a great time during the holiday season. You will begin to hear your children say, “Jesus is the reason for the Season.” Just as I did with the story of the first Thanksgiving, I will begin most days with the story of Jesus’ birth. I have a Nativity set that will serve as the figures for the story. Our Christmas party is a really big birthday party for Jesus, complete with cupcakes and a round of Happy Birthday! Our party will also be filled with fun crafts, silly games and stories. The sights and sounds of Christmas will be all around the classroom. We will have Christmas music playing all month!
Please plan to come a bit early for pick up at the Christmas Parties. We will be doing a short program of Christmas songs! In the morning it will be around 10:25 and the afternoon will be around 2:30. The kiddos will be dismissed right after we finish.
Batesville Historical Society Museum has Christmas items on display. It is always a really fun and exciting visit. Please be sure to stop by with your family after the tree lighting ceremony and check it out. Please see their website below for hours of operation.
Happy Birthday Jesus
We will be doing some really fun crafts over this month. We try and balance the excitement of Santa with the amazing story of the Nativity. We will always make Jesus the centerpiece of Christmas but we include some of the extra Christmas trimmings'. I don’t want to give too many of the crafts away because the children will be so excited to show you their work.
Our learning centers will be in the Christmas spirit. Our home center will have it’s own Christmas tree that will be decorated and redecorated many times. We’ll practice making paper chains. We’ll have many Nativity sets for the children to interact with as we encourage them to recall the story of Jesus’ birth. We’ll have plenty of recycled Christmas cards for the children to make cards. Get ready…some of you are going to get a lot of cards!!
