SGE Family Newsletter
For the Week of May 16-20
Estimados Padres,
Gracias,
Mrs. O’Hair
Directora de la Escuela Elemental de Shady Grove

Field Day Schedule Change!!
PreK and Kindergarten were originally scheduled for the afternoon of Friday, May 20th. In an effort to avoid the hottest time of the day, we have bumped their Field Day to the morning of Thursday, May 19th.
We apologize for any inconvenience this change in schedule may inflict, however we feel this adjustment is safest when considering prolonged time outdoors in this unusually high heat with our young students.
Coach Giesenschlag and Coach Tyler will be contacting Pre-K and Kindergarten volunteers who had previously signed up for Friday, May 20th. Parents, feel free to reach out to them as well!
New Schedule:
Thursday, May 19
8:00-9:30 Kindergarten
9:40-11:10 PreK
Friday, May 20
8:00-9:30 2nd Grade
9:40-11:10 1st Grade
Remember to apply sunscreen and wear a cap!

Ongoing Reminders and Quick Links
Birthdays!
Is your child celebrating a birthday? Feel free to send individually wrapped birthday treats for your child's class. The teacher will serve them at an appropriate time according to each class's end-of-day schedule.
Please keep in mind the "individually wrapped" condition when planning the treat to send with your student. Individually wrapped treats minimize exposure to extra handling.
Car Line Reminders
-Are you parking on Harvey St. by the grove of trees to drop-off in the morning? If so, please walk your child to a staff member in the front of the building rather than sending him/her to walk alone. Please also avoid blocking residential driveways and bus traffic.
-No in-person pick-up after 3:00pm until the car line is finished. As we work to dismiss our students in a timely and orderly fashion, we must keep the front entry/exit doors uncrowded. As a result, parents needing to check their students out must do so before 3:00pm or after the car line is finished.
Other general reminders:
-Help us keep the line moving as quickly and safely as possible by staying in your car, seating your student on the right side of the vehicle, and giving goodbye hugs and kisses before the drop-off line!
-If adults need to exit the car for any reason (to walk student in, to help student unbuckle, etc), please park in a parking space and walk your child across the crosswalk.
