Safety Corner

Due to the number of Tornado Warnings we have had the Safety Committee would like to provide you with additional information regarding the Tornado Warnings. Please click below to access additional information.

Knowledge Room

A great big THANK YOU to Ms. Ivery who has had her classes clean and organize the Knowledge Room! Please help by having your students leave the Knowledge Room in tip top condition when they are there. Ms. Lyons' hours for the Knowledge Room are 1:15-2:00 daily as long her schedule permits. If you would like to bring your class to the Knowledge Room please stop by the main office to borrow and return a key. Students must be supervised at all times in the Knowledge Room.

FSA Night a Success!!

Thanks to all who worked together to make FSA Night a sucess. We had a total of 70 people in attendance. A special thanks to the following people:

Ms. Dixon- For being our eloquent fearless leader

Ms. Madison- Food purchasing, set up, clean up and EVERYTHING!

Ms. Gillard- Presenting important FSA information

Dr. Solis-Presenting important FSA Reading information

Ms. Whittaker- Presenting important Math FSA tips

Ms. Tyler- Presenting important ELL information

Ms. Brant- Presenting important ESE information

Ms. Fogel- Greeting and ushering families into the meeting and rolling up her sleeves too!

And to the following teachers for rolling their sleeves up and showing their unwavering support: Ms. Ivery, Ms.Dipalma, Ms. Marshall, Ms. Burns, and Ms. George.

Teachers Plan for Parental Involvement

On 2/23/16 Village Academy teachers put their heads together to outline several Village parental involvement training initiatives for the 2016-2017 school year. Here are the ideas secondary teaches came up with:

"Village Reads"

"Culture Fest"

"MC3" (My Child's Cost of College)

"6th Grade Night"

and improvements to "Science Night" with college majors and secondary labs

Bet You Can't Do It Like Me Party!!

Thanks to the Fine Arts team, support staff and Mr. Richard for organizing the Bet You Can't Do it Like Me party! Students who demonstrated our PAWS expectations were rewarded with attending the "Bet You Can't Do It Like Me" dance party. This is a SwPBS Initiave. Keep listening out for more incentives from the SwPBS Committee. See pictures below!

Waves of Kindness Against Bullying

Data Chats! Great Dialogue and Insight

Kudos to all who scheduled and carried out data chats. The dialogue has led to insightful reflection and great planning. If you have not scheduled your data chat. For secondary please email Ms. Williams with your next available date and time (20 min). For elementary teachers, be on the look out for a sign up sheet in the elementary sign in area.

From the Desk of our School Principal: Free Dental Event Saturday March 19th at Village Academy!

Way to Go 3rd Grade Team for submitting for the essay/poster contest!! If you did not submit, please consider. The deadline was extended until Friday. Let me know if you have students in your class that will be participating in this .I will also resend the directions for the essay/poster contest.

Free Dental Care

If you know of any student in your class that could use dental care, I am working with a few partners that will offer services to students that may not have dental insurance . If you are aware of students needing dental care, please send the names of those to me so that we may get them care.

AVID 8th Graders Present to Incoming AVID 5th Graders

Dr. Solis' 8th grade AVID students will be participating in a presentation in the Media Center on Wednesday, March 16, 2016 from 12:30 PM to 2:15PM. The 8th graders will discuss expectations for AVID in middle school and be a light orientation for 5th graders to middle school AVID processes. Go AVID!!!
