A Message From Bri
I hope that this message finds you and your family safe and healthy. What we are going through as a country right now is incredibly painful. While scrolling through social media, I have been heartened to see the images of MLA families participating in protests and caravans throughout Oakland this week, our students holding up Black Lives Matter signs, walking alongside people that may not necessarily look like them, but who have the same beliefs about how every human being deserves to be treated.
I hope you know how hard it was for our teachers to say goodbye to your children last week in a zoom meeting or in a zoom promotion, when all we really want to do is give your children a hug and an opportunity to process what is going on in the company of their friends. Our hearts are with you, especially now.
As we go into the summer break, we want you to know that we are still here. We are taking vacations and opportunities to relax and recharge, but our work continues. Our Community Apoyo team that formed in March to connect families with resources will continue to work throughout the summer. Please complete the "resources" survey below. Our registration team will continue to work during the summer to ensure you have the help you need to complete your child's registration for next year. Our hiring team will continue to work through the summer to make sure we are fully-staffed with the best team possible to open in the fall. Our admin team will continue to work through the summer to ensure our campus move happens as planned and all classrooms have the furniture and resources they need to open in the fall. We will also be opening a food distribution site at our Maxwell site every Monday and Thursday in June and July! We are still here with you, and we will continue to send updates throughout the summer as more information becomes available.
Thank you for your patience and support during this challenging year. We got through it, but only because we leaned in to help each other every step of the way.
With love,
Bri
