A SUPER Teacher Appreciation Week

This week is Teacher Appreciation Week. Students, parents, our Sherwood PTA and I are all working collaboratively to ensure that you are showered with the appreciation that you deserve for being the SUPERHEROS of our school. Snacks will be provided on Wednesday and a delightful lunch will be provided on Friday. Dress comfortably this week in your jeans each day (the perfect superhero teacher costume) and feel free to consider every day “A beautiful day in the Ozark’s” and leave as soon as your students are gone. Enjoy the additional gift of time! Thank you for your commitment to Sherwood and our students!

Newbies to Team Sherwood

This Tuesday, May 3rd we will be having a very informal staff meeting to give you the opportunity to meet your new teammates and to celebrate all that we have accomplished at Sherwood this year. The Blended Learning Department will be joining us and will provide an ice cream bar! Below is some information on each of our new hires.

Allie Rodgers 4th Grade

My name is Allie Rodgers. I am currently in my third year of teaching at Wilder Elementary. I started out my teaching career in kindergarten and then moved to fourth grade. I have been teaching fourth grade for the last two years. I will be starting my master’s degree this summer at MIZZOU for educational technology. When I’m not working I love hanging out with my husband, Jeff, our 8 month old daughter, Fallon, and our dogs Tobi, and Britta. On the rare occasion that Fallon sleeps I enjoy binge watching Netflix. Also, I worked at IPA for 5 years, so if I look familiar that’s probably why.

Device Collection Updates

Thank you for your feedback on device collection. Based on that and conversations with the Project Team, Sherwood will collect on two dates: Thursday, May 12 and Tuesday, May 17th.

The following teachers will collect student devices, cases and chargers on Thursday, May 12th:

Beard/Cartwright

Freeze/Howard

McHaffie/Vorse

Byrne

The following teachers will collect student devices, cases and chargers on Tuesday, May 17th:

Burton/Rust

Dunn

Hagerman/Poland

Helmick/Johns

Longwell

Sikes/Youngblood

Hampton/Osborn

Teachers will be asked to complete this Google form for each student device that is collected. You will be checking to ensure that the student device powers on, the screen is fully functional and that the keyboard and track pad are working. Cases and chargers will be loaded in tubs that will be provided to each learning lab. Working devices will be loaded in the top of the carts and broken devices will be loaded starting at the bottom of the cart. Lara and Christen will be available to assist you with these processes on collection days. I will also be sending parent communication about collection this week and next in the Parent Shine.

Staff Device Feedback

Earlier this week you recived and email frm Bruce Douglas related to staff device next steps. One specific update related to additional accessories.

  • Staff will have the option to choose four accessories for their HP Hybrid: an external mouse, USB 10-key pad, VGA adapter and keeping a single monitor that can be attached to your laptop when your desktop is removed. If you would like to request.
To receive additional accessories, complete this Google form and select which accessories are needed by May 20th. We will order these accessories during the summer and provide them at the beginning of the next school year.
