FAFSA - AS EASY AS 1 - 2 - 3!
FAFSA INSTRUCTIONS PROVIDED BY TSAC
ORHS WANTS TO BE A FAFSA CHAMPION!
ORHS IS PARTICIPATING IN THE FAFSA CHALLENGE - WE WILL UPDATE THE NUMBER OF SENIORS COMPLETING THE FAFSA WEEKLY.
While Tennessee continues to be a leader in nationwide FAFSA completion, there is still work to be done. Students who complete the FAFSA are more likely to enroll in higher education, persist in their college coursework, and obtain a degree.
As part of the Challenge, THEC/TSAC plans to honor high schools who are able to increase FAFSA completion in their schools. Specifically, we are encouraging high schools to increase the share of their Tennessee Promise applicants who complete a FAFSA. High schools that increase their Tennessee Promise FAFSA completion rate by 5 percentage points OR have 95 percent of Tennessee Promise applicants complete a FAFSA will be designated as FAFSA Champions. We also plan to honor the high schools that have the highest FASFA completion rate and those that have the largest year over year improvement for the entire state.
CONGRATULATIONS TO THE NEWEST MEMBERS OF NHS

URGENT NEED FOR TNACHIEVES MENTORS
17 volunteer mentors are still needed to support our Oak Ridge High School TN Promise applicants in 2022! Mentors spend just one hour per month supporting students as they transition from high school through their first semester of college. Many TN Promise students will be the first person in their family to go to college, and need a little extra encouragement!
The pandemic has caused a decrease in college going across the state. Volunteer mentors can play a critical role in ensuring that local students are supported and encouraged in navigating their post-high school plans. While the time commitment is not significant, the opportunity to help a student to realize their full potential can be!
Mentoring can be done either virtually or in person depending on your preference. All mentors complete a one hour training and receive a handbook guide to the program. Will you consider applying as a mentor in 2022? The deadline to register is Friday, December 3. Click here to complete a mentor application: https://tnachieves.org/mentors/apply
