Family Update
Dublin Jerome High School
3.29.2020
Important Public Service Reminder: Wash Your Hands!
This is a quick update as we head into Week 2 of Online Learning. I anticipate that I will be sharing multiple updates this week but I did want to touch base as we return from Spring Break.
I know that there are many questions and uncertainties but I ask that we do our best to take it day by day. I have asked the same of our teachers. This entire experience is new for all of us. It will be imperfect but one thing I want everyone to know is that we are here for you. The Jerome community is strong and we will emerge wiser and better than we were before. We love you and are doing everything in our power to be sure we provide your meaningful experience.
When I have the information I will share it as soon as possible. As a reminder I will communicate with information mainly in the following ways:
- Smore Newsletter: sent via email/School Messenger/DCS App or you may follow on your own.
- Schoology: DJHS Principal Communication Resources (Student Access Code: C25V-XMJT-V4KVN). Parents will be able to view the course as they do others in Schoology once the student joins. I have over 1,000 adds thus far. Please encourage your son/daughter to join the course.
- Social media accounts: Used to highlight and share the daily happenings with students, staff, activities, etc.
Please let me know if you have any questions and we will do our best to get back to you ASAP. You may also continue your typical communication with teachers via email or set up a virtual conference via Google Meet. We are here for you!
I have shared some updated information below. Please take some time to review. Thank you for all your help, support, and flexibility during this incredibly unique time.
With love and gratitude,
Mike

Dublin City Schools Update
Please see the email below from Dr. Hoadley sent out last evening:
Hello everyone,
I hope you have enjoyed time with your families over this spring break week. I know we are all following the events surrounding COVID-19 and the profound impact it is having across the globe.
Last week, the Ohio Legislature passed House Bill 197 that addresses many of the questions we’ve all had as we go through the closure of our buildings. Some of the key components include:
- Elimination of all state and federal testing for the remainder of the 2019-2020 school year.
- Permitting local school districts to grant high school diplomas to students on track to graduate and for those students whom the principal determines to have successfully completed the curriculum. (More info to follow from our high school principals.)
- Permitting schools to utilize online learning in place of face-to-face instruction to meet minimum instructional hour requirements during the COVID-19 pandemic to prevent extending the school year into June.
- Permitting boards of education to use electronic communication for in-person meetings and hearings during the emergency period, but not beyond Dec. 1, 2020.
On Monday, March 30, we will return to online learning. We know this experience does not and cannot replicate in-person classes, but our staff continues to do an amazing job with this rapid transition.
In spite of the challenges we are facing, the positive spirit of our Dublin community continues to stand out. Dublin City Schools is feeding approximately 500 students per day through our grab-n-go breakfast and lunch distribution system. The schedule has been changed to accommodate demand and can be viewed at this link. During spring break, we have worked to gather medical supplies from our schools’ health clinics and athletic training areas. On Monday, 3,300 medical masks will be sent to the OhioHealth system using a drop-off point at Dublin Methodist Hospital. We continue working to gather other supplies for our first responders who need them the most right now during this global pandemic. We will continue to do things that define The Dublin Difference as we go through this situation together.
As our Governor has said, we WILL get through this. Please continue to social distance yourselves to help “flatten the curve.” Stay well and continue to take care of your families.
Yours in education,
Todd F. Hoadley, Ph.D.
