Life in the 1950's

Equal Rights

Throughout the 1950's Blacks, Native Americans, and Mexicans all fought for equal/civil rights. Mexicans sought out equal employment, Blacks fought against segregation, and Native Americans also fought fair treatment.

Baby Boom

As soldiers returned from WWII the birth rate grew out of control. In 1957 one American infant was born every 7 seconds. The result was the largest generation in US history.

African American Music

African Americans made a lot of music, inspired rock 'n' roll. Nat "King" Cole and Lena Horne, paved the way for minority representation in the entertainment fields.
